I was shell shocked how forward Alex was n how dominant she was in this
situation.no girl id ever gone out with knew what she wanted as much as
Alex did.I looked at Alex quizzingly wanting to know what she was thinking n
why I was the lucky one who had a gorgeous gf without even trying.Alex must
have seen i was looking at her n she pulled me in for a another heated
embrace n preceeded to push me back onto her bed so she was technically in
control.I couldnt believe it this kinda stuff only happened in my dreams
never a reality.Alex is gorgeous to put it simply,she decided she wanted not
only kiss my lips but my neck as well.My neck is a very sensitive spot for
me and soon i was moaning involuntarily as she kissed my neck whilst

The first day back at uni is where I saw the very beauty which I wanted to
hold and love with every fibre in my body.Firstly Im in my second year at
uni,jus started the first semester i play hockey n i would be considered a
jock in america but because this is England Im just considered a sporty
chick.Im 19, about 5ft 5,with muscles not fat just a well defined bod cos of
the weights i did as a kid,brown hair with blonde streaks.Ive been told I
have cute eyes n a cute smile by my preivous girlfriends all of whom im
still in regular contact with.
Well back on with the story,she noticed me the very first day i saw her,her
smile accentuating her gorgeous green eyes.No words spoken between us just a
smile,a smile enough to make me take notice of her which can be quite rare
as Id spent most of the summer single after my ex has told me I was too good
for her.She was wearing a loose-fittin South African rugby shirt n jeans I
swear i was totallly blown away by her.I had to calm down cos she was a
fresher n i didnt wana scare away the only potential gf material I'd seen
grace the uni campus.
I'm not into all the mind games crap,n I dont believe she was the type to
play it that way,but until i knew she was gay i kept myself from getting too
excited.I walked into uni the next day n bumped into her again this time she
muttered a 'hello' at my direction. Me,being stupid did a double take
thinking my blonde beauty couldnt be talking to me I carried on walking.Not
disturbed by my percieved rudeness(I didnt know) she decided to drag me in
the toilets n pushed me into a cubicle n preceeded to kiss me hard n me not
aware of the situation took a while to respond but when i did she understood
how i felt fo'sure.After the kiss had ended which seemed like forever not
that i was complainin,she said 'Now u get the hint darlin' Im Alex,n u r?',
'Er Im Beth,Alex its nice to meet ya'.We both knew no introduction was
really neccessary.She had a glint in her green eyes n i still couldnt
believe i was standing in a uni toilet just having kissed a hot girl.She
pulled me in for another smooch n this time it was more heated and I could
feel the passion being generated between us even if it was in a toilet
cubicle!
After we'd finally stopped kissin n groping each other,Alex dived into my
pocket n found my fone n punched her number in it under 'Babe' I wasnt
complaining,but I still had to ask 'You do want us to be an item dont you?'
she looked at me dumbfounded and didnt answer me just grabbed my hand and
pulled me out of the toilets towards the halls.I mean I'm not the type to
have meaningless,soulless sex it just isnt me.She literally dragged me back
towards halls and as we entered the 'Lord Openshaw' hall something clicked
it was my old hall from last year.She was in my old room purely by
coincidence,but the memories came back from me n various girlfriends.
I didnt tell Alex this for fear of reprisal and plus I had no clue where
this was going.She turned the key in the door and led me in.She pushed my
back pack off my back and very slowly moved down to my jean pockets to
remove my phone and wallet,'we dont want interruptions do we?' Alex murmured
and preceeded to trun off my phone.

Jay woke up early the next morning. She got up leaving a still sleeping and
muttering Alex in bed. She went downstairs, gathering her clothes as she
went, not that she needed them, she was using some of Alex's, she didn't
think that Alex would mind. She went to the kitchen looking for coffee to
wake her up. Her body was glowing, and she smiled at the memory of the
previous day. That was unexpected, and exactly right. How Alex had known,
she just didn't know.

'Alex, hell you don't even have milk?' Jay chuckled under her breath. 'You
do need someone to take care of you, don't you?' Jay nearly jumped out of
her skin when her phone rang, she grabbed it and her heart warmed when she
saw who was calling. 'Good morning sleepyhead.'

'Morning beautiful.' Alex yawned into the phone. 'I woke up and you weren't
there, where are you?' Jay now laughed. Alex was such a goof sometimes.

'I'm in the kitchen, which I have to say is completely empty!' Jay scolded
Alex, then ruined it by laughing again.

'I love to hear you laugh. I'm sorry, I don't really shop, but I guess that
will change. There should be some milk under the sink.' Alex said somehow
knowing what Jay was looking for.

'Under the sink? Oh come on Alex! You have yards of cupboards and you put
it under the sink?' Jay found it there and was laughing again. 'You really
need to organize this kitchen. It is way to beautiful to be treated like
this.'

'Ah well I put the things where I can find them. You are welcome to
organize.'

Jay got busy making coffee and kept joking around with Alex. It was silly
and childish but she could not help but love it.

'Hey why don't you come down and have a cup of coffee.'

'I guess I have to get up sometime. Give me a minute, oh do me a favour?'

'Sure.'

'Could you get my mail for me? I haven't checked it in while.'

'Ok sure thing.' Jay hung up the phone and smiled then went to get the
mail. When Jay opened the door there was a note on the doorstep, thinking
it might have been Reilly or Jane leaving them a note she picked it up and
read it. Her blood froze in her veins. She slammed the door and was running
upstairs. 'Alex! Alex!' Jay screamed, Alex caught her in her arms.

'What's wrong? Beautiful what's wrong?' Jay didn't say anything she just
handed the note to Alex. When Alex read it, Jay could see a shiver going
through Alex. Otherwise Alex didn't react, not that Jay could see. But
inside Alex's world was crumbling. 'Call the station. I'll call my dad.'
Alex didn't say anything else as she headed to the kitchen to use the phone
there. Jay used her phone to call the station.



There were cops every where. Alex now knew how the people felt that had
cops trample right into their most private of places and not even notice
it. Jay was there, holding her hand. It helped, but she was scared and she
didn't know what to do. So she sat there stared at her friends and
co-workers going through her life. It was a horrible feeling, one she
wished she didn't have to have. When her dad arrived, with her mom and
Susan she relaxed a bit more. Family is what she needed, but she gripped
Jay's hand tighter as her mom came over to her and kissed her on the cheek.

'We are all here for you sweetie.' Reilly said and got a nod from Susan and
Angus.

'Alex do you still have the note?' Angus asked wanting to see it first
hand. Alex tried to speak, but with them there her shield was crumbling,
bit by bit.

'No, they already took it away.' Jay answered, knowing Alex just
couldn't. Angus nodded his head.

'Fine. Then tell me exactly where you found it.'

'I was going to take out the post, and the note was just sitting on the
doorstep.' Jay paused for a minute. 'He must have been watching us,'

'I agree. Now what stood in the note exactly?' Jay could not bring it over
her heart to tell him, and stared at the floor. It was very personal and
chilling. 'Jay I need to know, and I will. But I would like to hear it from
you or Alex.' Alex chocked back tears.

'Give me a minute.' Jay swallowed hard. She then looked at Alex and Alex
managed a nod. 'Dearest Alex You sure know how to put on one hell of a
show! You have one hot piece of ass there. She must have liked what you
showed her. Very unladylike the way she let you fuck her. But then I like
that. Oh yea, nice place you have there, suits you. Now the question is how
long will I let you enjoy it and that hot slut of yours. But then when I'm
done with you, she will need a shoulder to cry on, who knows I might just
offer it. I wanted to kill you clean, but then you had the fortune of being
lucky. I now realise to torture you before I do is more fun. So hang on for

Admirer.' Jay had stared at the floor the whole time. Now she looked
up. She could see Angus had more questions, but Susan had her hand on his
shoulder.

'That's more than enough.' She said it and Jay could see why no one argued
with Susan. 'Reilly and myself are taking Alex and Jay to our place. They
need food. Not questions. I'll trust you to keep and eye here and join us
when they are done here?'

'You are right. I'll be along.' Susan let Angus pull her down for a
kiss. Angus left the room. Susan looked at Jay and Alex and then did what
came naturally to her. She pulled them to their feet and into a hug. Both
Alex and Jay gave in to it and let themselves be held.

'Now we go home.' Susan said and Led the way to Alex's car outside, gave
the key to Reilly and got in.



I have to get away! I can't stand it, it's to much. I need to be alone! Oh
fuck I just need a drink and then some oblivion. Oh god Jay! What am I
going to do? I need air oh shit! I need to get away. Jog, that's it Alex go
for a jog. Clear your mind.

Alex felt caged and nervous. It was better then letting her heart admit
that she was scared beyond belief that anything would happen to her or
Jay. Jay watched her, and she wished Alex would talk to her, but Alex paced
back and forth.

'I'm going for a jog.' Alex suddenly announced.

'I don't...'

'I'm going!' Alex said already heading for the room she still had
there. There should be some jogging clothes there. Jay wanted to follow,
and talk to Alex when Reilly put her hand on her arm.

'I know it's hard, but Jay let her figure it out for herself first. She is
scared and doesn't know what to do. Let her have her jog, she'll be better
for it.' Jay nodded, but it didn't sit well with her.

'Now why don't you help me make breakfast. Reilly told me you were a born
cook. As I love it myself I would like the company.' Susan recognised that
Jay needed to have something to do.

'Uhm, I'm not that good.' Jay blushed.

'Don't believe a word she says!' Reilly laughed seeing Jay blush. 'Having
her in the kitchen is a treat. Come to think of it I'll join you in a
moment myself.'

'I...'

'Oh modesty is over rated if you ask me. Now I'm curious to see what you
can do.' Susan led Jay into her kitchen. Jay sighed, the Conly women had
very good taste kitchen wise. 'Ah you passed the first test.' Susan said
delighted.

'It's beautiful! Do you know what I thought when I walked in here?' Jay
looked at Susan.

'No why don't you tell me.' Susan said as Reilly entered.

'I just thought that the Conly women have great taste when it came to
everything kitchen. And I appreciate that.' Susan beamed and Reilly
laughed.

'You are a treat Jay.' Reilly hugged her, and Jay realized that was exactly
what she needed. 'Feeling better?'

'Yes.' Jay held on for a moment longer. 'You keep doing this for me, when I
need it most.'

'Oh sweetie how can I not?' Gripping Jay tighter.

'Thank you.' Jay finally let go, just to see Susan watching them both.

'Well if Reilly hadn't beaten me to it.' Susan said, and turned to the
fridge.

They cooked and laughed, but Jay was worried about Alex and what happened
that morning. She wished she had answers. She was scared and she didn't
know what to do with it. She needed Alex, but did Alex need her?



Shane walked into the third bar and saw his sister sitting, staring at a
glass. Probably whiskey that was her drink of choice. He walked over and
took the seat next to her.

'You are a creature of habit aren't you? What are you doing here Alex?'

'I've been wondering why I'm not drinking this very fine glass of Whiskey.'

'Bullshit. Try again.' Shane said without breaking eye contact, and saw his
sisters eyes laugh. So he knew she was fine.

'Mom?'

'Who else?'

'How long did it take you?' Alex looked at her brother, it had always been
him.

'Third bar I tried. You are predictable. So what's really up?' Alex looked
at him.

'I wanted to drink myself into oblivion, then I started thinking.' She
paused and gave the glass another twirl. 'Then I decided fuck that, I'm
doing this Conly style.' Shane looked at her and laughed.

'Flip him the bird!' They said together, Alex nodded and laughed at her
brother.

'Now I think I better go home and get me my girl.' Sane nodded and stood
up.

'You do that, and I can finally get ready for my date.' Shane winked.

'You have a date! Who would be crazy enough to date a hound like you.' Alex
shot back.

'Since you seemed to be having some sort of luck with a Jooste I thought to
myself why shouldn't I try one.' Shane grinned.

'You and Jane?' Alex snorted. 'She is going to go on one date with you and
realise she is head over heals in love with me.'

'Oh you are just sore because I got the writer and you the cop.' Shane
punched Alex lightly on the arm as they headed out.

'Oh bless you!' Alex gave her brother a hug. 'My bike?'

'Thought you might like a ride. Since you and Jay got together you have
been neglecting her. Sill gets me that you won her from me.'

'You are just a terrible bluff!' Alex laughed and grabbed the key. 'Hop on
Shane let's go.'

'Ugh, I am never playing poker with you again.'

'That's what you said the last time.' Shane got on the back of Alex's bike,
he felt like a girl.

'You know this is really bad for my ego.'

'I know.' Alex laughed as she took of. She enjoyed the roar of the bike,
but it really wasn't her thing. Shane would get it back come
Christmas. Alex wondered what he would bet this year, he was a terrible
poker player, she wasn't.



When Alex got back to her dad's house she headed straight to the
kitchen. She knew Susan well enough to know that she and Reilly would keep
Jay busy there. She walked in and there she was. Alex's heart skipped a
beat. She stood in the door and watched her move, so sure of herself.

Jay knew the second Alex entered the house. She didn't know how, but she
did. She waited a minute to let her heart calm itself. Then she turned and
went to Alex.

'There you are.' Jay said it as her arms went around Alex's middle. She
stood on her toes and kissed Alex.

'Here I am.' Alex was a bit shocked that Jay had known that she was there
without her saying anything. Reilly and Susan just looked at each other and
smiled. 'Beautiful can I talk to you?'

'Always, but first you have to eat. You haven't had anything today.' Alex
smiled at Jay.

'Another reason why I love you. It smells good, let me grab some of this
and we can get...' Reilly came to Alex and gave her a kiss on the cheek and
left the room.

'You two can have the kitchen, for a while.' Susan did the same as Reilly
and left. Alex now looked at those steel blue eyes. They looked tired and
worried, and she knew she had some part in that.

'I guess you have all been waiting for me?' Alex asked the obvious. 'I
didn't mean to make you worry. I just...' Alex didn't know what to say.

'You needed space.' Jay finished for her. She let go of Alex and started to
prepare a plate for her. 'I understand.'

'No I don't think you do. You understand some of it, but not all.' Alex
took the plate and put it on the table and sat down. She then pulled Jay
onto the chair beside hers. 'I wanted space, that is true, but I was
looking for more. I fled today. I got scared and instead of talking to you
I headed to the first bar I knew.'

'You don't drink.' Jay was a bit confused.

'I don't drink any more. I used to drink, and I drank to much.' Alex could
see something on Jay's face she hadn't seen there before. Jay took Alex's
face in her hands and smiled.

'But you didn't drink.'

'How do you know?'

'Because you are here talking to me.' Jay kissed Alex gently. 'And if I'm
not mistaken you have a plan. Tell me.' Alex's hand went trough her hair,
she just couldn't figure Jay out. When she thought she did, she showed
another side.

'You are incredible.' Now Alex laughed, and it thrilled Jay to the tips of
her toes to hear it. 'You are right, I do have an idea. It won't catch this
bastard, but will make me feel better.'

'Well then don't make me wait!'

'I am flipping this bastard the bird!' Jay looked a bit perplexed. 'I'm
going to say fuck you in my way.' Now Jay smiled, that fit.

'And how are we going to do that?' Jay emphasised the we. Alex needed to
realise they were a team.

'Oh I was hoping you would go along.' Alex now sat back and Jay could hear
her stomach growl. Jay laughed and Alex blushed just a bit.

'You look damn cute when you blush.' Jay kissed Alex on the nose. 'Why
don't you eat and tell me what you have planned.'

So Alex ate and outlined her plan. They laughed and revised the plan a bit
here and there. They were better for it. They had a plan and weren't
waiting for the next attack. Life went on, they would see to it.



Jay looked at the bike with some suspicion. Alex smiled as she looked at
Jay, took her hand and kissed her.

'Don't worry. I can drive it.'

'Oh it's not that. I know that. I just don't know where we are going to put
the groceries.' Alex nearly choked on he own laughter.

'I'm sure we'll think of something. Now hop on.' Alex liked the idea of Jay
sitting snugly behind her, and grinned.

'Now explain to me why you have this bike, but until Christmas only?' Jay
got on and put her arms around Alex and rested her head against her back.

'It's a little tradition between me and Shane to play poker around
Christmas time, but it differs from the other times because we have to put
something on the table that we love or would definitely miss. Then we
play. The person that wins gets to keep said item for one year, until the
next game.' Jay laughed.

'And you won his bike?'

'I'm good at poker, Shane isn't.'

'Oh I see, and when did you start this tradition of yours?'

'I was fifteen, had just gotten the hang of poker, by way of my aunt, and I
wanted the Swiss Army Knife my brother had. So I challenged him to a game
for the knife, he wasn't stupid and said ok but only if it was for one
year. I agreed and the rest is history.'

'Remind me never to play poker with you. Who is the champion.?' Alex
snorted.

'I have only lost twice since we started this, and I'm still pissed about
it.'

'What you loose?' Jay managed to get out between laughs.

'A pair of absolutely great shades, brand spanking new.'

'And? You said two.' Jay felt Alex shift in her arms. She was
uncomfortable. This made Jay smile. It wasn't just her then.

'Ok I was eighteen at the time.' Alex defended herself before she had even
said what it was.

'Come tell me.' Jay poked Alex in the side.

'My stash of Play Boy's.' Alex murmured, but Jay heard and nearly fell of
the bike, she was laughing that hard. 'Which I let him keep once the year
was up.' Alex added sheepishly.

'I wish I could have seen that one.' Jay finally managed.

'Ok can we go now?' Alex changed the subject.

'I think we should. So we are going to Harris first and then shopping?' Jay
wanted to get the schedule set in her mind.

'Yip, that is the plan. Now you just hang on to me beautiful.' The Bike
roared to life and they were of. Alex loved the feeling of Jay holding on
to her. It felt just right.



Alex and Jay stood in front of the house her partner owned. Alex gripped
Jay's hand. Jay had a bouquet in the other arm. Alex eyed her.

'What?' Jay snapped, Alex had been on about her bringing flowers.

'He's a man.'

'And I won't go empty handed to any house. Men like flowers.' Jay told Alex
for the tenth time. 'Now ring the bell.'

'Sure thing. Flowers?' Alex shook her head and pushed the doorbell. It took
a few minutes before they heard footsteps. 'Show time.' Alex said and
winked at Jay, just before the door opened.

'Alex! How sweet of you to come by. Come on in.' A woman Jay guessed to be
Harris's wife answered. 'And this is your girlfriend then?' Jay could feel
the blush rising to her face.

'Hi Lisa.' Alex gripped Jay's hand firmly in hers. 'Lisa this is Jay.' She
introduced Jay.

'Well it's nice to meat you.' She looked and saw that Jay's hands were full
and took her shoulders and kissed her on the cheek. Jay was to surprised to
say anything. 'Welcome and come on in. I'm glad to see you though Alex I am
going crazy with Tomy at home!'

'Glad to be of service.' Alex smiled as they were led to the living room.

'You have visitors Tomy.'

'Well, well. I didn't think I'd see you this soon.' Harris looked up at
Alex. 'You do know I'm going to lecture you?'

'I figured as much.' Alex said grinning as Harris snorted.

'Always so damn cocky! You brought your better half I see.' Harris turned
to Jay, and she blushed. 'Now why is it that she brings me flowers and you
come empty handed? Hi Jay?' Harris held out his hand.

'Hi Harris, how are you feeling?' Jay shook his hand and gave him the
flowers.

'She doesn't deserve you.' Harris laughed. 'I'm doing good, if it wasn't
for the whole in my leg I'd be dancing on the rooftops. Thank you for
asking and thank you for the flowers.'

'It's a pleasure.' Jay said sounding more than a little pleased with
herself.

'Do you know that you are the first person to bring me anything? I like
it.' Alex gapped as Harris handed the flowers to Lisa with instructions to
bring them back once they were in water. Jay had in the meantime moved back
to Alex and their hands linked of their own accord. 'Sit down you two. I
don't like people towering over me.'

They talked for about an hour. Alex told Harris about the letter she had
received. Harris did give Alex a very good lecture, Jay just smiled. Alex
had gotten lectures from so many people, she wondered how she took it so
easily.

'Ok I think we need to be getting on.' Alex said and got up. 'You look good
Harris.'

'Thank you both for the visit. Alex?' Harris called her back.

'Yip?'

'There is something about that letter bothering me. Take another look at
it, I'll mull it over here.'

'Ok, give me a call if something comes to mind.'

'Bye Harris' Jay said walking out behind Alex.

Alex was in thought as they walked out. If Harris thought there was
something in the letter then there probably was. He had very good instincts
when it came to things like this. She would talk to Jay, Shane and her
dad. Maybe they could figure it out.



What am I supposed to do with all this food? Alex has lost it, we don't
need this much. We have enough to feed an army and then some. Taking her
grocery shopping might have been a mistake. I have to get her to make a
list of the things we need and stick to it when we do our shopping.

Jay smiled at herself. She was already thinking of their shopping. Things
were moving faster than she had expected and she found that she didn't mind
that much.

'Alex who are you intending to entertain? The local football team?' Alex
winked at Jay.

'What we don't eat now we will have for later.' Jay smiled, she guessed
Alex would always do her shopping that way.

'We are never going to fit this all on your bike.' Jay stated, maybe that
way she would get Alex to leave at least some of the stuff behind. Alex
nodded her head and put some things back. 'It still won't fit.'

'Oh come an Jay, I don't like going shopping. This way I won't have to come
for a few days.' Jay kissed her and started putting things back. Alex
sighed and let Jay put back more than half of what she had put in. 'Next
thing I know I'll be making grocery lists.' Alex grumbled. Jay started
laughing and had to stop what she was doing. 'What?'

'I was just thinking I needed to get you to make a list.' Alex gave her sad
look, she didn't pull of completely.

'I knew it!' Alex then lent down and kissed her. 'But for you beautiful I
will do it.'

They paid and left. With a lot of effort they managed to get everything on
to the bike. Alex then took them back to her place.



Alex and Jay could see that the police was nearly done and headed into the
kitchen. There they found Angus. When he looked up he didn't seem to be to
surprised. He motioned for them to sit down with him.

'I thought you two might be back. So you are not going to let this bastard
scare you of then.' It was a statement not a question. 'You have an idea
Alex?'

'Yip, I'm doing this my way.' He nodded. 'I'm flipping him the
bird. Doesn't really help us get him, I know, but it will make me feel
better.'

'Oh if we are talking about it, we wanted to invite you, Susan and Reilly
to dinner tonight.' Jay added as she got busy putting away the groceries.

'Well I think I can speak for all of us when I say yes. But Alex don't be
so sure that this won't help us catch him.' Alex thought for awhile then
nodded as she got it.

'He wants me to be scared and fall apart.'

'And when you don't, it will seriously piss him of. He might make a
mistake, bound to if he is pissed.' Alex grinned at her father.

'Then I guess we should make it a night to remember. Jay?' Jay had been
listening, why neither her or Alex had thought of this beet her. 'Would you
mind if we invited a couple more people?' Jay groaned.

'How many is a few more?'

'Mhhh, Shane, your sister and Sally?' Alex asked. Jay smiled as Alex came
to her and pulled her towards her.

'If this will help catch this bastard you can invite the whole bloody
police station.' Alex laughed and twirled Jay around dipped her and kissed
her.

'Well I would have thought that you would be a bit more worried about
people going through your stuff, but that's me.' Alex laughed, she didn't
need to see the person to know who it was.

'You find anything you like Sally?'

'Mhhh depends?'

'Oh on what?'

'Can I borrow it?' Sally laughed as Alex cocked her hip still holding Jay
in her arms. Somehow Alex still pulled it of.

'You are not borrowing anything from me. I'm still waiting to get back the
last pair of shoes you borrowed.' Sally shrugged.

'In that case, I didn't find anything.' Angus moved to the door.

'I think you girls can take it from here. Jay when should we be here?' Alex
looked perplexed. 'Oh come on Alex we all know she organizes better than
you do.' Jay laughed along with Sally.

'It's true Alex.' Sally smirked.

'I think seven would be fine.' Jay told Angus and walked him to the
door. Sally and Alex were joking around when she got back to the
kitchen. 'Alex could you get a hold of your brother and I'll track down
Jane. I have to go get some clothes at my place anyway.'

'Ok, but I think if I get hold of Shane you won't need to tell Jane.' Alex
smirked at Jay.

'It would seem that you missed it then.' Sally remarked, everyone knew.

'Missed what?'

'My dear brother is dating your sister.' Jay was shocked then let out a
laugh that sounded like a bark.

'Well I'll be damned! I really was out of it.' It amused Jay that Jane had
taken an interest in Shane. 'So Alex are you coming with me or am I going
to have to drag Sally along?'

'How did you...' Alex thought better of it. 'I want to stick around. Sally
would you mind going with Jay?'

'Not a problem. She is better company anyway.' Sally slipped out before
Alex could think of a good comeback.

'So you will call Shane?' Jay asked as she walked to Alex and pulled her
close to her body, making sure that Alex could feel her body. Alex was left
speechless and only nodded. 'Then what are you waiting? Kiss me...' Alex
took her mouth, attacking. Taking Jay's lower lip between he teeth, gently
grazing her lips. Jay moaned and pressed herself even closer to Alex. They
would have kissed the whole day if Sally didn't call for Jay to get
moving. 'Now that was a kiss.' Jay whispered.

'I... bloody hell you are an incredible kisser! Now go before I take you on
the kitchen floor.' Jay laughed and headed out after Sally.



Sally watched Jay for a while before she talked. She could see that Jay was
over the moon, but she had the sneaky suspicion that Jay was as tense as
could be. She was a master of disguise so to speak. Well she would like to
lighten her load if she let her.

'You know I'm sorry that this is happening to you two. You don't deserve
this. And I want you to know that I am there if you need a shoulder or an
ear.' Sally let it hang there, hoping that Jay would take her up on it.

'I'm fine.' Jay lied and Sally knew it.

'Jay don't give me that.' She turned Jay towards. 'Look me in the eyes and
tell me you aren't terrified and want to fall apart! Do that and I will
leave you alone.' Sally waited and Jay looked down she could never lie to
someone she considered a friend, in the face. Sally took her to a park
bench and sat down. 'You are a friend. I know you see me more as Alex's
friend, but Jay I am here for you. Now the question is will you trust me?'

'I do trust you.' Jay answered as she stared of into nothing. It looked to
Sally like she was trying to put back the happy face she had worn around
Alex. She wasn't doing such a good job of it at the moment. 'Sally if I
admit it out loud it will become so much more real. I...' Jay's voice
hitched. 'I can't loose Alex, you don't know how much she means to me or
how much she has helped me. I can't fall apart, not now, she needs me to be
strong, and that is what I will be.'

'No you are right I don't know what she means to you, but I can see it. You
two were made for each other. You light up when Alex is around and it's the
same with her. I have never seen Alex this happy, and for god's sake this
isn't exactly the best situation you guys are in. You have found that
someone that everyone searches for. So Jay just lean on me a bit, Alex is
my best friend, and it means a lot to me that she has you right now.' Jay
kept staring at nothing in particular.

'Sally what am I supposed to do? I can't protect her from this.' Jay
finally got out.

'You keep doing what you are doing right now, and Jay give Alex a bit more
credit. She knows you are scared.' Sally took Jay's hand into hers. 'Talk
to her. Tell her how you are feeling, she will do the same.' Jay nodded she
then got up and started to walk towards her place. 'I guess your done
talking then.' Sally muttered to herself.

'Thank you. Now lets get my things. I would love to get something that
actually fits me.' Jay said motioning to Alex's clothes she was
wearing. She needed to think about what Sally said.

'Mhh, does look a bit oversized on you.' Sally shot back then said
softly. 'If you need me you know how to reach me.' Jay nodded as they
approached her place. They went inside and as they got to her door she
found that it wasn't locked, she tensed for a second then thought it had to
be Jane.

'I guess Alex must have gotten it wrong, seems to me my sister is home.'
They went inside and Jay opened the door to her room and nearly choked at
what she saw. 'Maybe not!'

'Well Shane Conly I knew you had a sweet ass, but I didn't think I'd get to
see it up close and personal' Sally nearly doubled over laughing. Jane and
Shane were trying, frantically, to cover themselves. 'Jay? Is this really
your sister?'

'Uhm... I can explain.' Jane was burning red in the face.

'Yes, this is my sister, and she has always had a problem with mine and
yours. I can't wait to hear you explain this one Jane.' Jay stared at Jane
and she turned even redder. Shane was trying to get to his clothes. 'And
you!' She pointed at Shane. 'Do not move a muscle if you like what you
got.' Shane froze.

'I... sorry.' He mumbled pulling the duvet more securely over himself and
Jane.

'Ok kids I'm waiting, so who wants to go first?' Jay stared at both Jane
and Shane. They didn't seem to know where to look or how to explain. 'Jane
you are the one with all the words, give it a go.'

'I... uh...well see we...uh.' Jay suddenly started laughing. Making Jane
and Shane even more confused.

'That kids means you get of scot free.' Sally laughed as Jay didn't seem to
be able to get her laughter under control.

'Uhm could we maybe get dressed?' Shane asked, Jay just shook her head.

'Why bother, I'm just going to grab some clothes and some things from the
kitchen and then I'll let you get right back to it.' Shane nearly chocked
this time. 'You are changing these sheets, and bloody hell give a woman a
warning next time! I really do not need to see my girlfriends brother and
my sister going at it in my bed. You will be at dinner at Alex's place at
seven.'

'But...'

'Seven, or you will be sorry you didn't come.' Jay looked at them both.

'You are going to tell Alex, right?' Shane asked, already knowing the
answer.

'You bet that naked ass of yours!' Jay said as she grabbed her clothes.

'We'll be there Jay.' Jane said.

'Ok have fun!' Sally said as she and Jay went to the kitchen. When they had
everything that they needed they headed back. They didn't say much, but
they sure had a little something to tell Alex.



Jay went upstairs first putting her clothes in Alex's bedroom. She then
just splashed her face with some cold water. She just needed a few minuted
alone. It had been such a long day, and it wasn't over yet.

Alex found Jay standing with her hands on the basin, eyes closed water
dripping from her face. Jay looked so tired right then, it nearly broke
Alex's heart.

'Beautiful?' Jay looked up and smiled at Alex. 'Here. Alex handed her a
towel.'

'I'm sorry I didn't hear you come in.' Jay dried her face.

'Are you ok?' Alex asked looking into Jay's blue eyes. She saw the truth.

'Alex I just can't now. I have to get dinner started if I want it to be
ready in time.' Alex just pulled Jay to her and hugged as if her life
depended on it. Jay immediately fell into Alex, she didn't cry but it was
just what she needed, and it was exactly what Alex needed.

'Just hold on to me for a while.' Alex felt better, she knew she
would. 'God I need you so bad Jay, it scares me.' Jay's hart jolted. Alex
needed her and Jay would be there.

'I know the feeling, but then you hold me in your arms and I would swear I
can fly.' They held on to each other tight, Jay resting on Alex's
shoulder. She could hear the steady beat of Alex's heart and she calmed
down. 'Come on Alex we need to get cooking.' Jay finally took Alex's hand
and led her to the kitchen. There they worked side by side for the longest
time.

'Oh yea, beautiful I couldn't get a hold of Shane so I guess we are two
people short.' Jay snorted out a laugh.

'They'll be here.'

'You caught them?' Jay had to put down her knife, she was laughing so hard.

'Yip I caught them all right.'

'Ok you either find talking to people on the phone funny or you know
something I don't know.' Alex looked at her. 'So spit it out.'

'I wanted to tell you when I got here, I guess I forgot. Do you know what I
found in my bed when I got home?' Jay asked. It took Alex a minute to catch
up, but when she did she ogled Jay, then laughed.

'No way! In your bed?'

'Yes they were...' Now Jay did blush, how was she supposed to explain it to
Alex. 'They were busy and we walked in. I don't know who was more shocked,
them or us.' Alex hooted with laughter.

'Oh Shane you are just so dead!' Alex danced a little dance, what Jay
thought was a victory dance. Alex then went over to Jay and kissed her on
the cheek. 'Oh I love you!' Jay laughed. They were still laughing when the
doorbell rang. Alex went to get it and soon came back with Susan in tow.

'I thought you might need a hand Jay.' Susan said giving Jay a kiss on the
cheek. 'Now what can I do?'

'Nothing.' Jay said, but the look that Susan gave her made her sigh. 'Fine,
but you sit down. I'll give you plenty to do!' Jay added as Susan wanted to
complain.

They all worked together and Susan could feel the love between Alex and
Jay. In all the years she had known Alex she had never seen her in a
kitchen, except to eat, but here she was letting Jay teach her. They were
so good together. The way they would touch without noticing it. Susan
wondered if they knew that a blind man could see they were in love.



Seven on the dot the doorbell rang. Alex and Jay made a bet who it was. Jay
said it would be Jane and Shane. Alex said it would be her mother. She went
to get the door.

'Ok beautiful you win. I owe you.' Alex winked at her. Shane walked in
behind Jane with a sheepish grin on his face, but when he came over to say
hello to Jay her heart melted. How could you stay mad at a man holding a
bunch of flowers and that look on his face.

'You know just how to butter me up, I guess my sister might have had a hand
in it.' Jay went on to her toes and kissed Shane's cheek. 'Thank you, they
are lovely.'

'It's the least I can do.' Susan watched, she was very curious. 'Oh there
are my favourite girls!' Shane moved and twirled Susan around. 'You taking
good care of my little sister?'

'Shane!' Susan laughed. 'Stop I'm getting dizzy!' Shane twirled her right
into a chair.

'Oh Susan, this is my sister. Jane this is Susan.' Jay made the
introductions. They all chatted a while. Then Reilly arrived and shortly
after that Angus and Sally.

They ate and they laughed. It was a family meal, and Jay could see a lot of
the tension drain away from Alex. She was a family person, it warmed Jay's
heart. With Alex she had found the family she had always wanted. When
dinner was done she was not surprised when Reilly helped her in the
kitchen. It did surprise her that they were alone.

'Thank you Jay it was a lovely evening. And your cooking, it only seems to
get better.' Jay blushed, as she always did when she received a compliment.

'Thank you.'

'I wanted to speak to you alone if you don't mind?' Jay nodded her head,
she had guessed as much.

'You know I don't. You have done so much for me.'

'You are family.' Jay stopped and stared at Reilly.

'How can you take me into your family so easily?'

'Because you make my daughter happier than I have ever seen her. And I am
honoured to have you as another daughter.' Now Jay had to bite back
tears. 'You will take good care of Alex for me, won't you?'

'I would give anything to make her happy. So yes, I will take very good
care of her.' Reilly came to Jay and hugged her.

'Alex could not have chosen anyone better. Now I'm going to rally the
troops and get them out of your hair. You two have had a long day.'

'Oh thank you.' Jay sighed with a little more than thankfulness. 'I just
want it to be us for just a little while.' Reilly hugged her tight.

'I know and I'll have them out of here before you are done here.' When Jay
wanted to object she shushed her. 'I'll tell them good night for you, no
arguments.'

'Thank you Reilly, thank you.' Reilly left her and had the whole clan
gone. Jay was amazed that she actually pulled it of.



Alex was in the meantime drawing Jay a hot bath. She wanted to make Jay
forget their worries for a while.

Oh beautiful you make me so happy. I wonder if you understand that? Mhhhh
you are, well you are perfect for me. Who knew that love could be this
sweet and at the same time hurt so damn much. I am scared of loosing you, I
can't bare the thought of not having you with me. And when you smile at me,
I get goosebumps!

Alex pulled herself back from her musings and went to get Jay. Jay was
still in the kitchen just putting away the last of the dishes as Alex
walked in. She loved watching Jay move, but she loved holding her even
more.

'Beautiful I have a surprise for you.' Alex held her tight.

'Just not more people.' Jay sighed into Alex shoulder.

'No, no nothing like that. Come on upstairs with me?' Alex asked.

'I'd go where ever with you.' Alex led Jay upstairs and to the bathroom.

Jay walked into a fairytale. Alex had lit dozens of candles and there was
the bath hot and steaming with some bath oil scenting the air. Fluffy
towels set next to it. Alex closed the door behind them.

'Take a bath with me?'

'How did you know what I needed?' Jay stared to undress. Alex stopped her.

'I just had a feeling. Let me do that.' Alex undressed Jay slowly kissing
her softly on her shoulder. When Jay was naked Alex helped her into the
tub. 'Is it to hot?'

'No it's just right.' Jay sighed as she sank into the tub. Alex got
undressed and got in behind Jay. Jay then settled back and rested her body
against Alex's body. 'Thank you Alex.'

'Any time beautiful.' Alex wrapped her arms around Jay's waist and rubbed
her stomach with her hands.

'Alex?'

'Mhhh.'

'Tell me about your drinking.' Alex was silent for a moment.

'I was just eighteen when I got drunk the first time.' Alex paused trying
to find the right words to explain.

'Just tell me the way it was Alex.' Alex smiled. They were both so
completely in tune with each other.

'I had been in a relationship with a girl, my first. We were together for
about three years. I thought we were happy, I had these dreams of us being
together forever. She told me she was happy, but on my eighteenth birthday
she took one of her father's belts and she hung herself in her room.' Alex
stopped she had to take a few deep breaths before she went on. 'We had a
date that night, and I went to pick her up. I thought she was running late,
it would be so typical. So I went to her room to go get her. I found here
there hanging from the ceiling of her room. My heart broke. The next day I
skipped school and I went to a bar armed with cash and my ID. I drunk
myself to a stupor to numb the pain.'

'You were so young.' Jay took Alex's hands into her own and kissed the palm
of each hand softly. 'You loved this girl. Now tell me how it ends.'

'I was what you could call a weekend drunk. I worked hard in school and my
grades weren't bad. Come the weekend I would drink, usually I could not
even get back home, and Shane was always there. He kept it from my parents
until I was about twenty. I had drunk so much I had to go to the
hospital. Me and Shane were both visiting my mom, so they called her. She
tried to get me into a program I absolutely refused. My dad tried I
refused. I kept drinking, and Shane stuck with me, taking care of me when I
was to drunk to do it. Then when I turned twenty one he told me he had had
enough, he told me to go with him. He took me to see Alicia's grave, I had
never seen it. I didn't go to her funeral. I cried like a baby, he took me
home and told me to go see her dad. I did, and he had a letter addressed to
me. Alicia had written it before she killed herself. After I read what she
wrote I never took another drink.' Alex waited for Jay to ask what was in
the letter, but Jay didn't. She didn't need to know.

'I love you Alex.'

Jay just melted into Alex and tipped her head so that Alex could kiss
her. When Alex did it was slow and soft. They stayed in the bath until the
water started to turn cold. They got out and dried of. When they went to
bed, Alex took Jay in her arms and held on tight. Jay only fell asleep once
she knew Alex was sleeping.

Jay woke up a couple of hours later. Her phone was ringing. When she looked
at the display she didn't know the number. Before she could decide whether
she wanted to answer or not it stopped. She was just snuggling back into
bed when it started ringing again. This time she just picked it up.

'Jooste.' She grumbled.

'Hi Jay it's Reilly. Look I'm sorry to call you so late. I just wanted to
let you know that I just got here and am on my way to Angus's. I'll come
and check on you guys tomorrow.'

'Thanks I'll tell Alex. How was your flight?'

'Sweetheart, I think we can talk later go back to sleep.' Reilly chuckled
at the display of manners from Jay even when she was half asleep.

'Ok, goodnight.'

'Goodnight Jay.'

Jay just fell back into bed, then felt Alex roll towards her. She was
tightly rapped up in Alex's arms before she was asleep again. She only woke
up when her alarm went of, she turned it out as fast as she could, she
didn't want Alex to wake up. Alex was still very much asleep, in her usual
manner. Jay chuckled, she couldn't believe that she could sleep with all
that, but yet she had never slept better. Jay got dressed and went into the
living room. She just wanted a few words with her sister before she left.

'Jane!' Jay shook her sister. 'Oh come on. Wake up!'

'Wha happen?' Jane mumbled still half asleep.

'Get up, I need to talk to you.'

'I'm sleeping!' Jane tried to protest, but Jay ignored her and pulled her
blanket of.

'Slave driver!'

'Bum!'

'Oh, shit it's to early in the morning for this. My mind is still fast
asleep. Coffee?'

'In the kitchen now get you ass out of bed!' Jay called already moving to
the kitchen, she knew she had won this fight.

'Ok what's burning?' Jane asked as she walked into the kitchen. 'I was
having the most wonderful dream, until someone woke me up.'

'Sorry, but you have some more explaining to do.' Jay stated, what Jane had
told her last night was not the complete truth and Jay knew it.

'I don't know what you mean.'

'Oh let's not play this, I'm way to tired, and I still have to go to work.'
Jay glared at Jane. Jane finally shrugged, took the cup Jay offered and sat
down.

'I had a fight with mom.'

'About?' Jay asked knowing the answer, it was always the same.

'About my writing, and how I was throwing my life away just like you.' The
all to familiar sting still caught Jay.

'Me?'

'Yes, you. This time she went to far, she even talked to that fucking
bastard of an ex of yours. I just...' Jane saw all the colour drain out of
Jay's face. Her ex was someone she never talked about. 'Oh, Jay I'm so
sorry.'

'It's... It's fine, I'm fine.'

'Why won't you just talk to me about it?'

'Look, I have to go to work, will you look after Alex for me?'

'Some day you will have to tell someone what the fuck happened!' Jane tried
one last time.

'Just take care of Alex for me. I'll be home tonight.'

Jay left without another word. Her head was somewhere else, somewhere she
didn't want it to go, but it always went there. She could just not get it
out of her head, try as she may.



Alex woke up a couple of hours later, she felt great until she moved. She
hurt in places she didn't know you could actually hurt. She must have
grunted lauder than she meant to because Jane stuck her head into the room.

'Ah it lives.' She remarked with a wink. 'You hungry?'

'Starving! Where is Jay?'

'She's at work, are you going to join me or do you want a tray?' Jane
asked, she hoped that Alex would join her.

'Give me a minute, I think my body is not done kicking the shit out of me.'
Jane laughed and went back to the kitchen.

'God that smells good!' Alex said when she finally managed to get up. 'You
and your sister are something.' Jane laughed.

'Yes, we do know how to cook, if that is what you mean. So I'm going to be
very rude. Tell me about yourself.' Alex's jaw dropped to the floor. As shy
as Jay was the opposite seemed to be true about her sister.

'And you are sure you are related to Jay?'

'Well that is what my parents keep telling me. Why?'

'You are so...'

'Nosy and exactly the opposite of shy?' Jane asked, having been asked that
many times.

'Yes, I guess that's it.'

'You know Jay wasn't always like she is now. Ok she was on the shy side,
but she had friends, and was well liked. Then her ex got his claws into her
and she changed.'

'What happened there?' Alex asked and could see Jane realise her mistake.

'I thought you knew. I shouldn't be the one telling you about this.' They
were silent for a while, neither wanting to really let the subject
drop. Before they could say anything else the doorbell rang. 'I'll get
that.'

Could that be it? Is that what Jay is hiding? But why, what could have
happened that would make her so scared to talk about it. Mhhh, there's
something else about what Jane said that is bothering me. I just can't put
my finger on it.

'Well I think these belong to you,' Jane joked leading Reilly and Shane
into the kitchen. 'because I've never set eyes on them before.'

'What?' Alex was just a bit startled.

'Good morning to you to Alex.' Reilly chuckled and kissed Alex on top of
the head.

'I'm sorry, I was somewhere else.'

'We noticed that sis. Now why don't you make the introductions, because
this does not look like Jay.' Shane winked towards Jane.

'Oh, of course. Mom, Shane this is Jane. She is Jay's sister.'

Everyone got to know each other. Alex and Jane ate while they chatted with
Reilly and Shane. They were having a good time, distracting Alex from all
her previous thoughts. But in the back of her mind it was all still there,
and Reilly must have seen this. She ushered Jane and Shane out onto the
balcony, saying she was going to help Alex do the dishes. Shane saw the
look on his mother's face and guided Jane outside when she tried to object.

'Sweetie, how are you really doing?'

'I'm fine.' Alex looked at her mom and knew she didn't believe her for a
second. 'I'm fine!'

'Yes, so you've already told me. Now cut the damn crap and tell me. For
heavens sake you were shot! You could have died and all you have to say is
'I'm fine.' sweetie I wasn't born yesterday.'

'Fine! You want to know how I'm doing? Really? I'm scared out of my mind! I
don't know what to do! I'm worried sick, because I'm bringing the people I
love into danger! I am happy and content and I just don't know what emotion
is beating which over the head! I'm so confused.'

Reilly gathered Alex in to her arms rocking her. She knew to give Alex time
to digest what she had just said. Then they would talk. After a while she
felt Alex relax.

'You know it's perfectly normal what you are feeling.'

'Normal? Is it normal to be scared and content at the same time, because if
it is I don't think I like normal.' Alex objected jokingly.

'Sweetie, you are feeling those things for different reasons. You are
scared because there is someone trying to shoot you. But you are content
and happy because you are in love. Not a little but completely, and you
know that Jay feels the same. That is a very powerful bond.'

'But how can I feel them at the same time? I just don't understand this.'
Alex motioned with her arms. 'Any of this.'

'Life happens, the good with the bad. And Alex there is more good than bad
in your life.' Alex was silent for a while. She was thinking things over.

'I guess you are right, but I'm still worried.' Reilly put her finger on
her daughters lips.

'Don't be. Sweetie you have your whole family looking out for you, and we
won't let anything happen to you. Plus you have Jay and she loves you.'
Alex knew it was true, but then why wasn't she talking to her?

'Mom, can I ask you something?' Alex asked after thinking about it for a
long time.

'Anything, you know that.'

'Did you and dad know all the secrets of the other?'

'Why would you ask something like that?'

'Please could you just answer, it's important to me!' Alex begged.

'Ok Sweetie, but then I want to know why. No me and your father were in
such a hurry to get married that we never took the time to get to know each
other inside and out, that was also what drove us apart in the end. There
were to many things that we just didn't know or thought of before hand. We
were lucky, we parted on good terms, because at one time we really did love
each other very much. And that love gave us you two.' Reilly watched as
tears filled Alex's eyes, she didn't know why, but had the feeling it had
to do with Jay.

'Thank you.'

'Now tell me why you wanted know.' It was an order in that motherly tone
that every one knows never to disobey.

'There is something wrong with Jay. I can see it and I think she knows that
I am suspicious, but she just won't talk to me!' Alex was getting
frustrated. 'I think it has something to do with her ex.'

'Alex maybe you are just reading to much into things. I think Jay is just
stressed at the moment...'

'No! I saw it before al this happened, and then again last night when Jane
turned up. Jane slipped up and told me that after her ex was done with Jay
that she was different. I just know it has something to do with that.'
Reilly saw the worry and hurt in Alex's eyes.

'Then there is only one way to clear this up. You have to talk to her.'

'I've tried! She always distracts me before I can form a sentence.'

'Alex, you have to find a way or you both will go crazy.'

Reilly left Alex to think about things. She joined Jane and Shane on the
balcony. The two were having a lot of fun, laughing and joking like old
friends. Reilly thought she saw something there and thought to her self
that that would be just like fate. But then she wouldn't mind, if Jane was
just half as sweet a person as Jay she was a treasure.




Jay had a very bad day. She could not concentrate, messed up on more then
one occasion. Luckily Saints was there. He took care of things. He
understood, Alex was under threat and it was killing Jay to be away from
her. When she finally was done with her shift she tried one last time to
get some new information on Alex's case. The line was still 'nothing new to
report'. So she made her way home, home to her family. The thought made her
smile. When she walked into the apartment she finally relaxed.

'Gatkramp get your ass in here!' Jay called for her sister, forgetting that
Reilly had promised to check in on them. 'Hey if you don't come now you
won't get dinner!'

'Now that wasn't exactly the hello I expected.' Reilly chuckled as she came
to where Jay was hanging her coat. 'But then I'm on your turf.'

'Oh, I'm so sorry! I thought you were Jane! I would never...' Jay was
silenced when Reilly gave her a big hug.

'I know, I guess I just like to see you blush. Alex is right, you look very
cute like that. Now tell me how are you?'

'I'm glad to see you.' It slipped out before Jay even had the time to think
about what she was saying. Then she realized it was the truth. 'I'm just so
glad to see you.'

'Jay, you know there is nowhere I would rather be at this moment.' Reilly
was again very touched at Jay's gesture, she hugged her a few more minutes.

'Where are Jane and Alex?'

'Oh they went shopping.'

'Oh god help us all. Those two together in a store?' Reilly laughed, seemed
that Jay was already doing a bit better.

'Jane that bad?'

'Worse!'

'Then we'll have to pray that they leave the store in tact.' Reilly was
about to suggest that they go to the kitchen and get something to drink
when the telephone rang. The second Jay saw the display Reilly could see
the tension come back across Jay's featured. Who ever it was, Jay wasn't
happy to hear from them.

'I'm sorry Reilly this is going to take a while. Why don't you get yourself
something to drink an I'll take it in my study?'

'Sure, just take your time.' Reilly went to the kitchen wondering who could
get Jay that stressed with a phone call.




This is all I need! Oh no I don't have enough stress. Let's just pile up
Mother on top of Jay to! What the hell did I do?

'Jooste.' Jay answered the phone in a crisp and cool tone.

'Hello Johanna this is your mother.'

'Hello mother. Now this is a pleasant surprise. How are you?' It was
killing Jay that this was what her and her mother had come to. Talking like
strangers on the phone once in a blue moon, and this time it wasn't even
about her.

'Me and your father are doing well. How are you?'

'I'm doing well. I'm working hard.'

'Yes, whose fault is that? No ones but your own.'

'Ah there you are. A whole minute, wow mom you have become good. Are you
calling because you disapprove of my job?'

'You know exactly why I'm calling! So don't play dumb with me!'

'I don't know why you are calling why don't you inform me!'

'Johanna I don't have the time to play silly games with you! Give me your
sister right this minute!' Jay's mom screamed at her.

'I can't she isn't here. But I'll be sure to give her a message.'

'You make her come back home, or else!'

'Or what! You won't talk to me any more? You will treat me like the hired
help! WHAT?'

'You turned her head towards this nonsense. Writing, what sort of a job is
that.'

'She is a brilliant writer! And she is a grown up, she can make her own
decisions.'

'If it wasn't for you, she wouldn't have left!'

'Now it's my fault that Jane is an intelligent woman? Well that I think I
have nothing to do with! Although it is the nicest thing you have ever
accused me of.'

'She is throwing her life away just like you did! You were engaged and then
you threw it away! For what? To become a Police officer?' Jay's mom all but
spat the words out. 'You left Peter without even telling him where you were
going!'

'Do not go there! I told you never ever to speak of that man again!' Jay
was now on the verge of loosing every last shred of the relationship there
was left between her and her mother.

'Why not! He is the best thing that ever happened to you and you ran away!'

'The best thing that ever happened to me? You have to be high!'

'At least now he can stop worrying about you!' Jay was suddenly cold from
head to toe.

'What do you mean?' Jay asked softly.

'I saw him the other day and I told him where you were. The poor man...'
Jay lost it.

'YOU DID WHAT? YOU PROMISSED! YOU PROMISSED!'

Jay hadn't heard the door open when Jane and Alex got back. She was
screaming at her mother by that time. Alex heard enough to want to rush in
there and make it better, but Jane held her back. But when they heard the
last scream and then a thud they were both in the study in a flash. Jay was
rolled up in a ball and couldn't get air.

'Oh god. Beautiful what happened?' Alex asked trying to pick Jay up. Jay
just rolled up tighter. Jane in the meanwhile was on the phone with her
mother. After a minute she hung up. She now knew what happened. 'Mom!'

'I'm here, what happened?' Reilly asked kneeling down next to Jay.

'I don't know! She was arguing with her mother then we heard a thud.' Alex
was beside herself, Jay would not let her even touch her.

'She's having a panic attack. Jane has she ever had one before?'

'Yes, it's been a couple of years since the last one.'

'What caused it?'

'Her ex, and that is what caused it this time.'

'Alex go to her bathroom and see if you can find a sedative or something
like it. Jane you help me get Jay into her room.'

Everyone did as they were told. Alex found some sleeping pills, nothing
more. Jane and Reilly managed to get Jay to her room and out of her
clothes. When Alex came back she was in bed still curled up.

'I only found these.'Alex showed her mother.

'They will do. Now Jay, look at me.' Reilly gently took Jay's chin and made
her look at her. 'I want you to take these. They will make you sleep and
make you feel better.' Jay nodded and took the pills that Reilly gave her.

'Will she be ok?'

'Physically yes.'

'What do you mean? Physically. She'll be ok.' Alex said with a tremor in
her voice.

'Alex come let her sleep, that is what she needs now.' Reilly tried to
steer Alex out of the room. Alex would not move, she sat down next to Jay
never taking her eyes of her.

'I'm not leaving her.'

'Ok, but get me if anything changes.' Reilly and Jane left the room.

Alex sat there for hours, but finally sleep took her. It was filled with
shadowy figures and Jay.




Jay was dreaming, more specifically she was having a nightmare. The same
one she had been having ever since Peter. It was worse this time. She
didn't know why but it was worse and it felt more real. Then she got to the
part where she knew she would wake up screaming.

'NO, PLEASE DON'T!' Jay felt arms come around her and tried to break free
of them, but she couldn't.

'Beautiful calm down it's me. It's Alex, you were only dreaming, it was
only a dream.' Alex whispered into Jay's ear. Jay recognized Alex and
calmed down a bit. Crying, and shaking with the fear that was still inside
her.

'It wasn't a dream.' She finally managed. 'I wish it was.'

'Tell me, please Jay tell me.' Alex asked very gently.

'It's in my past, I don't want to talk about it.'

'Beautiful if it were in your past you wouldn't shake at the thought of
it. Please tell me. I want to help, but I can't if you don't tell me what's
going on'

'I can't, you will hate me if I tell you!' Jay cried even lauder.

'No you won't, but you might feel better. If you keep it inside it will
destroy you and in the end me, because I'm not going to leave you.' Alex
pulled Jay even closer to her. Showing her her that she meant it.

They were both silent for few minutes. Alex not wanting to push Jay to hard
and Jay trying to make up her mind. When Jay finally started to talk, Alex
didn't stop her once, she knew if she did Jay would clamp up again.

'I knew Peter my whole life. We grew up together, our parents were good
friends and I partly grew up at their house. I was always there. His sister
was my best friend and as it is with kids we were glued at the hip for our
whole school career. Peter would sometimes tag along when he had nothing
better to do. While my friend was always with some guy or another I never
dated, and as time went on I spent more time with Peter since she was
always busy. When I got to University I had still never been out on a date,
had never been kissed nor did I ever want to. I had always liked girls but
I knew that in the society I grew up in I couldn't risk being found out,
plus I had a bad case of denial going, I didn't want to be like that. So
when Peter asked me out I thought that that would be the perfect

so scared of him that I did everything that he told me to do. I lost what
friends I had, and I did things I never thought I would. After a year we
got engaged, my parents were happy as can be. His weren't, his mother

she didn't say anything then. In my studies I excelled, it was the only
place where I still had control. Things between him and me got worse and
worse, but what drove it over the edge was only a month before I
graduated.'

Jay stopped here her breath coming harder, she was coming to the end of her
story. She needed a minute to calm down. She didn't look at Alex to scared
of what she might see there. She was scared to death that Alex would leave
her, but she needed to finish her story.

Alex on the other side was shocked. Her ex was a man, now she knew what had
bothered her about what Jane had said. Then she became angry, how anyone
could treat Jay like that was beyond her. She wanted to hurt this man, she
wanted to scream at Jay's parents for not seeing it. But she didn't do
anything except give a squeeze.

'Up to that point we had never had real intercourse. I had given him

couldn't move, and that is where his mother found me. She knew what had
happened. She cried the whole drive to my home, there she told me to run as
far away as I could, away from her son. I did just that, I finished my
degree early stating some urgent family matter had come up, I was well
liked so my Professors agreed. I saw Peter one more time and I will never
forget that, He hit me so hard that my nose was cracked and told me that he
would kill me. That happened at the University after my last paper was
done. I went home packed my bags and was on the first plane here! I didn't
tell anyone back home where I was going except my parents and they promised
they would never tell anyone. That much I could get out of them after I
told them what happened. Now my mother has even broken that. He knows where
I am, and I'm scared I just know he is coming for me.'

'He wouldn't dare. You are a police officer.'

'That is what is so scary. I'm supposed to be strong and know what to do in
a situation like that, but I... I' Jay started to cry as sobs racked her
body, Alex didn't know what to say or do. She did the only thing that felt
right, she held on to Jay as if her life depended on it.

'No one knows how to react or what to do in a situation like that, and no
one should ever be put in the situation where it would be necessary to do
so.'

'I'm so incredibly scared, I can't fight him. He is to strong!' Jay was
becoming hysterical and Alex was getting a little scared herself. 'He's
coming! I just know he is!'

'He won't ever hurt you again, I won't let him.' Alex tried to calm her,
but she must have said the wrong thing as Jay was becoming even more
hysterical. 'Beautiful calm down! You are safe here, no one is going to
hurt you.'

'I...I...I! No you have to leave or he will hurt you to!' Jay pulled away
from Alex and stood up and was screaming in gibberish.

Reilly and Jane burst into the room at the same time. Jane, froze. She had
never seen her sister like this before. She was like a trapped animal that
knew it was being slaughtered. Reilly looked at Alex and saw the fear in
her eyes. She moved very slowly towards Jay. Not wanting to scare her even
more, she didn't know what had happened but she knew it had to be bad for
this to be the result. Once she was within reach of Jay she spoke but in a
very firm and soothing voice.

'Jay you have to calm down. Just breath in slowly and out. That's good.'
Jay did as she was told. 'No, don't look at them, just look at me. Good.'
Reilly moved ever closer until she was a few inches away from Jay. She then
took Jay into her arms, she melted into Reilly.

'Mom.' Jay moaned into Reilly's shoulder before she fainted. Reilly gently
put her on the bed kissed her on the forehead and tucked her in. She then
motioned for the other two to follow her to the kitchen. Reilly was about
to ask what had happened when Alex turned on Jane.

'You knew and did nothing!' Alex screamed.

'Alex keep it down.' Reilly ordered not any wiser than before. She just
knew Alex was terrified and mad as hell and Jane seemed to be her target.

'I won't! This family is so fucked up it is just unbelievable! You dare
show your face after what you did to Jay!' Alex was now head to head with
Jane, who looked terrified and clueless.

'What did I do?' Jane managed.

'How the hell can you look at yourself in the mirror in the morning you
bitch!'

'For the love of! What are you talking about Alex.' Reilly put herself
between Alex and Jane.

'She knows, why don't you ask her!'

'Ok, Jane?'

'I don't know.' Reilly could see that Jane was telling the truth.

'Alex she doesn't know.'

'What you forgot it!' Alex screamed again. 'You forgot that your sister got
raped and you and your parents didn't do a damn thing about it.' What
colour Jane had in her face drained away she turned white as a sheet.

'Wha...I...I... she never... Oh my god.' Jane collapsed on a chair.

'Brilliant! You are some sort of actress! I should...'

'That's enough!' Reilly ordered, silencing Alex. 'Can't you see that she
didn't know!' Now Alex took her first real look at Jane, what she saw was
utter shock and horror, a look her mother shared with Jane.

'I swear I didn't know. She refused to talk to me about what had happened,
I thought that it was something bad. I never knew...' Jane broke down
crying Reilly trying to comfort her.

'I thought that she had told you. When she said she had told your parents I
assumed that you knew to.'

'I... why didn't she tell me?' Jane asked herself more than anyone present.

'I can't answer that, but now she has reached out we have to be very
careful that she doesn't clamp up again. She has to talk about it, we have
to get her to see a psychiatrist.' Reilly stated.

'She'll never agree to it.' Jane said flatly, knowing her sisters view of
shrinks. 'She doesn't trust them.'

'She would have undergone an evaluation when she joined the force, so if
she was going to tell a shrink all this it would have come up then. I think
that Jane is right.' Alex looked at her mother pleadingly.

'Then we have to make her see that she is safe and that the bastard who did
this to her isn't going to hurt her. But for that we need help.' Reilly let
it hang in the air a bit.

'Dad, we need dad.'

'Yes, we do. If there is someone that could find out where this creep was
it would be him.'

'He will want to know why. I don't know if I want him to know.'

'Look if it will make Jay feel safe then tell him what he needs to
know. Running away from it hasn't brought my sister anything.'

'She's right Alex.'

'I'll call him. Mom?'

'Yes?'

'She can't go to work like this.' Alex stated, I need you to get her to a
doctor tomorrow, I'll call Sally to cover her shift for tomorrow, but I
can't ask her to do more.'

'I'll take good care of her, I promise.' Reilly knew that that was what
Alex was asking her. When Alex wanted to leave Jane stopped her.

'You'll need some information on him, I can give that to you.' Jane was
pleading for Alex to let her listen when Alex talked to her father.

'Ok, you are right. Tell me who he is. Then stay close I might need some
more information as we go along.'

'His name is Peter van Wyk. He is a lawyer works in Johannesburg last I
heard.'

'Ok that will do for now.'

Reilly watched them go to the study. She went back to Jay, she seemed to be
sleeping peacefully. It broke Reilly's heart to see Jay like this. She was
much to sweet for something like this to have happened to her. Reilly also
knew that Jay needed her family, and she was determined to make Jay see
that they were all her family. She had a lot of people that were looking
out for her. Reilly being only one of them, and having talked to Angus and
Susan and they both already loved Jay. It was so obvious that Alex and Jay
were in love, that was enough for them to love her to.



Alex had to dial her father three times before she got to him. It was late
and he was already asleep. But when he heard Alex he knew something was
wrong. He was awake immediately.

'Dad?'

'Alex that you?'

'Yes, look dad I need your help.' Alex decided for the direct approach, no
beating around the bush.

'What's wrong?' Angus demanded.

'Dad, look I don't want to explain over the phone, but I need you to check
up on someone. Can you do that?'

'Ok Alex, but I need to know what this is about. Just give me the outlines
at least.' Alex knew she had to, she chose her words very carefully.

'Can you just check up on a Peter van Wyk he is a lawyer in
Johannesburg. He hurt Jay badly and she is scared that he might be after
her again. He found out where she is and he has threatened her.'

'It's done.' Angus knew better than to ask more, he knew that he would hear
the rest when the time was right, but anyone that hurt Jay was hurting Alex
and that he couldn't bare.

'Thank you dad!' Alex was relieved to at least have the feeling that
something was happening. 'Do you need more information?'

'The more I have the easier it will be for me to get to this guy.'

'Then I'll give you Jane, she is Jay's sister. She can tell you more.'

Alex stood next to Jane as she answered all of Angus's questions. When he
was satisfied they hung up. Alex and Jane didn't talk for a while, both
lost in their own thoughts. All were on Jay. Jane finally decided to tell
Alex what she had been thinking since she met her.

'Alex?'

'Huh. Oh sorry I was somewhere else.'

'With Jay?'

'Yes, I can't stop thinking about her. And now this, I'm so worried.' Alex
answered. 'I am sorry for what I said before, I had no right.'

'No don't apologise. The fact that you love Jay so much is worth all the
accusations in the world. She deserves someone like you. You two are
perfect together. She was unhappy for way to long, always helping others
but never herself. You make her happy.'

Alex had to stop Jane as she was nearly crying. Jane was right, Alex
realized. She loved Jay more than words could describe, and she would do
anything to protect her.

'I guess I can't help it, I want to make her smile. I can't get her out of
my mind, and most of all I want her to be there when I get home. I will
keep her safe.' Alex stated while looking directly at Jane.

'I know, now I think we should get some sleep. Tomorrow won't be easy for
any of us.'



Alex walked into Jay's room and saw her mother gently stroke Jay's hair,
like she used to do with Alex when Alex had a bad dream. It touched Alex
that her mother was showing this much love towards Jay. She didn't know Jay
well, but seemed to have her as part of the family already. Alex's heart
sped up as it usually did when she saw Jay. So beautiful and so perfect.

'Mom, she will be ok, right?'

'Yes, but she has some ways to go. She will need you.' Reilly watched as
Alex looked at Jay. There was so much emotion there and all of it was based
in love.

'I' won't go anywhere.'

'I know you won't. Will you be ok with her alone?' Reilly asked as Alex got
in bed next to Jay. 'Do you want me to stay?'

'I think I will be ok, you are in the other room, so I think I can manage.'
Reilly nodded kissed Jay on the forehead then repeated the procedure with
Alex.

'Sleep tight, and call if you need me.' Reilly left.

Alex stared at Jay for a while. She was worried and the only thing she
could do was to be there for Jay. She moved closer to Jay and soon also
fell asleep. In sleep Jay moved towards Alex and their bodies joined
together. Alex was soon on top of Jay and talking up a storm. Jay felt safe
then with Alex holding her tight, even if it was only in sleep.

Reilly woke up early the next morning and went to check on Jay and Alex.
What she found nearly broke her heart. Alex and Jay were entwined with Alex
holding on to Jay like a bodyguard. They were a perfect fit, and this way
Jay was again the sweet person without a care in the world. She looked
content. So did her Alex, if they could just remain that way, life would be
perfect. Reilly watched them for a while longer then closed the door and
went to the kitchen.


Mhh that smell I know... Alex. Oh god this feels so right, why would I find
Alex only to loose her. That can just not be how it is supposed to be. God
I love her. She is my dream, she is everything that I want or ever could
have wanted. I just cannot loose her. I just don't know what the hell I'm
supposed to do?

Alex started to wake up the second she felt Jay move away from her. She
felt Jay pull away and her subconscious reacted and woke her up. When she
opened her eyes she found Jay staring at her. She could see confusion and
fear there. Alex moved so Jay could see she was awake. When she didn't pull
away Alex sat up and took her into her arms hugging her close. She didn't
say anything, she didn't have to. Finally Alex and Jay talked.

'Beautiful?'

'Alex I'm scared. I...'

'Shhh, I know. I wish I could make it go away, but I can't. You feeling a
bit better?' Alex asked tentatively not wanting Jay to get another panic
attack.

'As long as you hold me.'

'I'm never letting go, that is a promise. I couldn't if I tried. Do you
know why?' Alex decided that this was the time, here and now she was
putting her heart and soul in Jay's hands. When she felt Jay shake her head
she took a big breath to steady her nerves. 'I'll tell you then. I could
never leave you because I love you.'

Jay's heart did a back flip in her chest. She had been waiting to hear
those words from Alex, and here Alex was telling them to her when she
needed them the most. She then realised whatever she was going to do she
would have someone by her side who would be there when she needed her.

'Say something Jay.'

'I... I... Alex' Jay stammered not able to form the sentence she wanted
to. She had to steady herself and held on tighter to Alex.

'I know.'

Alex held Jay for a long time. Just being close to her and breathing her
in. It was still a shock to Alex what Jay could do to her. She was like a
love struck teenager. She wanted so much and then some. There was so much
love for Jay that Alex thought she would explode.

'I love you to.' Jay finally managed and freed herself from Alex arms so
she could look Alex in the eyes. 'I love you.'

Alex took her chin in her hands and stroked it lightly, looking into those
blue eyes. Just looking at Jay as if there was nothing more beautiful on
the face of the planet.

'Thank you.'

'For what?' Jay didn't understand.

'For making me the happiest woman alive.' Finally those eyes Alex loved so
much lit up again and there was the sexy and funny Jay. There were also
some tears, but then she had some of her own. Alex was about to ask
something when there was a knock on the door. Jay wiped her yes and nodded
at Alex giving her the ok. 'Come in.'

'Hi I thought I heard voices in here.' Reilly walked in and looked t both
women in the bed, something had happened here. 'I just wanted to check if
you were ok?'

'I'm good mom.' Alex said knowing that her mother was more asking Jay than
her. Jay looked up at Reilly and smiled, which was a good sign.

'I'm doing much better, thank you Reilly.' She was silent for a second
before she continued. 'I... I have to thank you for what you did last
night.'

'Oh sweetie there is nothing to thank me for.' Reilly sat down next to Alex
and Jay. 'I wish I could have been there for you sooner. What happened to
you should not have happened, but Jay you are an incredible person. You
have made something of yourself. No one can take that away from you, and
you are not alone, you have a lot of people that care for you. And you are
much stronger then you give yourself credit for.'

'Now I'm going to cry again.' Jay buried her face in the crook of Alex's
neck and cried.

'Just let it out sweetie. It's good to cry sometimes.'Reilly stroked Jay's
back.

When Alex's phone rang they all nearly jumped out of their skins. When Alex
saw who it was she hoped that it was good news.

'Dad?'

'Hi there Alexandra. I have some news for you, can I come up I'm nearly at
Jay's place?'

'Ok, one question though.'

'It's good Alex.' Alex sighed in relief, her dad knowing what she wanted to
ask didn't surprise her. He was like that.

'See you in a bit.' Alex hung up and smiled at Both Reilly and Jay. 'Dad
has good news.'

'What? They know who shot you?' Jay was sounding very happy at that
thought.

'Well... see.' Alex had forgotten that she hadn't told Jay about asking her
dad to help out. Jay's face fell.

'It's about me, isn't it?' Jay mumbled, her eyes boring holes into the
floor.

'Jay, Alex was only trying to help.'

'Does your whole family know?'

'No, I would never tell them without your permission. That is up to you to
do or not do.' Alex lifted her chin so that Jay was looking into her
eyes. 'And beautiful I will support you in whatever you choose to do.'

'What did your dad do?'

'I asked him to find our where... where...' Alex didn't know how to act
about this. Or what to say.

'He knows where Peter is.' Jay said it and felt a weight lift from her. It
was the first time she could say the name without wanting to puke.

'Yes. I didn't mean to hurt you more. I wanted to help you.' Alex was
suddenly scared she might have dome something wrong.

'It's ok Alex. It's fine.' Jay touched Alex's face and tenderly kissed
her. She sighed when Alex kissed back. When the kiss ended they both just
smiled and turned to Reilly who was getting up to get some coffee.

'I'm making coffee you coming?'

'In a minute mom.' Reilly left as Alex and Jay kissed one more time. It was
a earth moving kiss that left both starry eyed.



As Alex and Jay got dressed Angus arrived and joined Reilly and Jane in the
kitchen. When The two finally were ready and went to the kitchen, breakfast
was on the table. Jane looked worn out, was all Jay could think. She owed
Jane an explanation, which she would get. As they walked in all three in
the kitchen could see that Jay was nervous.

'Good morning you two. You sleep well?' Angus asked not knowing what had
happened the night before.

'Not to bad dad.' Alex answered for them both wanting to protect Jay as
much as she possibly could. 'You said you had good news?'

'Yes I do, but first I want to know why you wanted to know about this guy?'
Alex was trying to think of some way to get out of telling him why.

'When I was still in South Africa Peter van Wyk...' Alex turned Jay towards
her cutting her of in mid sentence.

'You don't have to.' Jay Put her hand on Alex's heart and stood on tip toes
and kissed her softly.

'Yes I do. I'm not running any more.' She turned back towards Angus. 'Peter
van Wyk raped me.' Jay's voice buckled a bit when she said it but she kept
eye contact with Angus. What she saw there surprised her. He looked pissed
of.

'I'll kill the son of a bitch! I will wring his bloody no good neck!' Angus
all but spat out. Jay was stunned by the outburst.

'Thank you.' Jay whispered, that made Angus stop and look at her.

'Whatever for?'

'For caring.'

'Oh hell come here and give me hug!' Angus ordered when he saw that Jay was
about to cry. Jay did what she was told. While she was hugging him he
whispered to her so that no one could but Jay. 'Jay as much as I love Alex
I love you. You are family.' When Jay straightened up tears were rolling
down her cheeks.

At seven Reilly went back upstairs to wake them up. She again knock softly
to make sure they were still asleep. Then she stepped inside. The bed
looked worse if that was even possible and Alex had obviously moved again.

'Wake up sleepyheads!' Reilly said while gently shacking them both she only
got a grunt from Jay but Alex squinted up at her.

'Mom?' she croaked.

'That's right, you awake?'

I guess.'

'Ok then I'll leave Jay to you, dinner will be ready in half an hour. I
would say take a shower and put on your something comfortable and then come
on down. We can eat and then watch a movie.' Reilly couldn't suppress the
urge to kiss Alex on the forehead. 'I missed you sweetie!'

'Missed you to mom. We'll be down soon.' Alex said as Reilly left the
room. Alex now turned back to Jay, she was stirring so she was waking
up. 'Hey there, you sleep well?'

'Mhhh.' Jay answered then Alex lent over and gave her a kiss to wake her
up.

'You want to take a shower or should I go first?' Jay now had her eyes
focussed on Alex.

'I'll go, isn't there another shower you could use'

'Actually a few but it's not my shower, so I'll just wait.' Alex smiled.

'Ok.' Jay got up and saw that their bags had turned up. 'Your mom brought
our bags up?'

'Yea, I guess she checked on us earlier, and brought them up. Oh she said
to just put on something comfortable and come on down. We'll eat and then
just watch a movie or something.' Jay rifled through her bag and found one
of her police shirts and a pair of old cotton pants, then headed to the
bathroom.

'Wow! This shower is huge! You better go look for another shower I'm going
to be busy for a long time!'

'Ugh, why did I just know that you were going to say that! We don't have
all night beautiful.' Alex joked. Jay peaked out of the bathroom with a
devilish grin.

'There is a way we could be much faster.'

'And that is?' Alex asked suspiciously.

'Let me see... say for instance if we take our shower together.' Jay
finished, and although she still had the same grin in place Alex could see
she was very nervous.

'Jay, are you sure you want to do that? Because you don't have to. I agreed
to take things as slow as you needed them to go.

'I know Alex, and I appreciate it, you don't know how much I appreciate
it. Showering together, it's not... it's not... I don't mean sex, I just
want to touch you, be close to you. No, that's not right! I need to touch
you, and I need to be close to you, and I want you to touch me and be close
to me. I just missed you so much.' Jay was rambling, trying to tell Alex
something, but she herself didn't know what she was trying to say. Alex had
moved to the bathroom door, she understood what Jay was trying to say and
placed her finger on Jay's lips and simply nodded yes.

Alex waited a second, just to make sure she wasn't dreaming, then went onto
the bathroom. When she stepped in she found Jay standing in the middle of
the bathroom not knowing where to look. She was twisting her hands and
biting her lip. Alex went to her took her hands in her own and just held
them for a while.

'Jay?... Jay?' Alex lifted Jay's chin so they were looking at one another,
bold green meeting steel blue. Alex then slowly and passionately kissed the
living daylight out of Jay. She then moved her hands to the hem of Jay's
shirt. 'Jay can I undress you?'

'...'

'I'll take that as a yes, now relax I won't hurt you, and Jay...' Alex
lifted her chin up so Jay was looking into her eyes again. 'I want you to
look at me, see what you do to me.'

Alex slowly lifted the hem of Jay's shirt, then gave a quick kiss before
she lifted the shirt of Jay. Jay was now standing in front of her in only
her bra and panties. Alex's knees nearly buckled under her. Jay saw the
change in Alex's eyes, they seemed to be greener and there was pure awe in
them! Alex now tried to unhook Jay's bra but her hands were shaking to
badly, she was holding her breath. She finally managed to clumsily unhook
it. Jay felt all this and saw the frustration on Alex's face, she could not
believe it. Next Alex knelt in front of Jay and slowly with shacking hands
pulled down Jay's panties. The breath Alex had been holding was knocked
right out of her, she could not breathe. She managed somehow to make it
onto her feet, she took Jay's hand and placed over her heart, Jay could
feel it racing.

'You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen!'

'I'm not...' Alex pressed her hands tighter over her heart.

'Yes you are!' Alex said very forcefully. 'Do you feel what you do to me?'
Jay now also saw the lust in Alex's eyes, and it felt so wonderful to be
wanted so badly. 'God I want to touch you, but first get in the shower
while I get rid of my clothes.'

'No, I'll do that.' Jay said, and Alex complied and stood still so she
could.

Jay never once took her eyes of Alex's. She opened the buttons of Alex's
shirt then slid it of her, next she unhooked her bra and then she slowly
pulled down her panties. Only after she had all the clothes of did she take
a step back and let her gaze travel over Alex's body.

'Perfection.' She managed to whisper. They then just stared at each other,
Jay finally broke the silence. 'we have to shower... your mom is waiting.'

'I know, god but I could just stare at you forever.' They both moved over
into the shower and Alex turned on the water. 'Jay?'

'I know.' Jay moved closer to Alex until they were nearly touching. Jay
then took Alex's hands and placed them on her hips.

Alex didn't need more incentive than that. She pulled Jay into her, feeling
her Breasts against her, as she bent down her Breasts moved against Jay's
skin and she bit her lip from sheer pleasure and torture. Jay was having
just as hard a time, having Alex's naked body against her own was wonderful
and the knowledge that Alex wanted her as bad as she did made her feel
powerful. That was also the problem, because she felt just as powerless
when she felt that body move against hers, she wanted Alex just as
much. When Alex finally met Jay's lips the result was kin to an atomic
explosion. Their tongues duelled, danced and sought each other out. Alex
bit and chewed Jay's lips drawing moans of delight. Jay doing the
same. There was nothing soft about their kissing it was pure passion
expressed hard and fast, each taking what they needed and giving all they
had to give. They had to break apart at times to catch their breaths, then
dove right back in. Alex finally drew away rested her head against Jay's
when the water started to cool down.

'Holy shit.' Alex managed once she had enough air in her lungs.

'That had to be against the law! Nothing legal is supposed to feel that
incredible.'

'Beautiful if we don't get out of here we are going to be freezing in a
minute, besides my mom is probably wondering if she should send out a
search party.'

'I completely forgot! Shit, what must she be thinking?' Jay was worried
again and getting out of the shower. Alex turned the water of and followed.

'She probably thinks we are a new couple enjoying each others company.'
Alex thought of what her mother was likely thinking, but decided against
telling this to Jay. 'I forgot my things in my room, I'll just quickly run
over there to dress. I'll come get you when I'm done.'

Alex blew Jay a kiss and left. Jay followed her every move until the
bathroom door closed, even then it took a minute or so for her to stop
staring at where Alex had been.

I knew she was stunning but that was just down right... down right
unbelievable! And she wants me! I saw it in her eyes, those beautiful
eyes. I trust her, that is just so great, I didn't think I would be able to
that again, but Alex? When she holds me, nothing can touch me. She is just
so comfortable to be around, I never have to pretend with her, I can be
myself. And she makes me laugh, goofing around. Just that goofy grin of
hers makes me smile, I don't think I ever want to go without that grin. God
I'm rambling like a teenager who has just fallen in love for the first
time.

And right there it hit Jay what she had been trying to tell Alex
earlier. She was in love, not a little, because she had known she was a
little in love, but not head over heals, jump of a cliff for the other
person, in love. And it was her first time, she now realised, and she knew
she would never find anyone as perfect as Alex again. This was it for
her. It scared her to death.

'Hey, you coming? Or do I need to come get you?' Alex shouted from the
room.

'I'm coming in just a second!' Jay answered pulling on her clothes as fast
as she could, then stumbled out the door in a total daze.



When they got to the kitchen Reilly sat at the kitchen table reading trough
some reports, when she heard them enter she looked up and noted that again
their hands were firmly linked together. She wondered if the two were even
aware that they did that.

'So who's hungry?'

'Well I could eat a little something.'

'Thank you Reilly that would be great.' Jay remarked, she seemed to be a
bit less nervous around Reilly.

'Then let's dig in!' Reilly got some plates out while Alex rummaged around
for some glasses and cutlery. 'Nothing fancy just pasta and salad.'

'Smells really good, it's so strange not to be able to help.' Jay remarked.

'I hope it's strange in a good way. Everyone deserves to be treated every
once in a while.'

'I agree, so why don't me and Jay cook for you tomorrow! We'll treat you.'
Alex volunteered herself and Jay. 'That way Jay can finally get me in the
kitchen, she promised she'd teach me.'

'Alex I'm sure you two have better things to do.'

'No actually I'd love the chance to get Alex in the kitchen, plus to repay
your hospitality. But Alex?'

'Yes?'

'Since you had the idea you'll do the shopping.' Alex's face fell,
shopping?

'That's not fair, I'll never manage!' Alex tried to wriggle out of it.

'It sounds more then fair to me sweetie. Oh but I wish I could see this,
you in a supermarket! Lord help the poor people there.' Reilly laughed and
Jay couldn't help but to do the same.

'Great, now you two are ganging up on poor old me!' Alex mocked shock.

'Alex I'll make you a detailed list of everything we'll need!' Jay giggled
at the face Alex pulled. 'You'll be fine.'

'Jay just promise me one thing.' Reilly put in, Jay nodded. 'Don't leave
Alex alone in my kitchen for even a second, she might burn it down.'

'That was an accident!' Alex grunted, getting Jay's attention.

'Wait you burned down your mom's kitchen!'

'Remember my comment about burning water?'

'Yea, but what does that have to do with this.'

'Maybe I can clear that up.' Reilly brightly said. 'It was the first and
only time Alex ever tried to cook anything, she was sixteen and up for a
weekend visit. I was with a patient, she was giving birth, so I really
couldn't go right then. Alex decided she was hungry and that she would
cook. Well pasta seemed like a very simple choice, but it didn't go
according to plan. She put on the water for the pasta then left the kitchen
to watch some tv while she waited for the water to heat up, she waited just
a tad to long! When she returned to the kitchen it was all steamed up and
as she tried to take the pan of the cooker, the towel landed right next to
the flame. You can now just imagine what happened next! It caught on fire,
and Alex took it, to try and put it out, but only managed to light up
something else and that in turn lit something else and you know how it
goes. When I got home there were a lot of firemen there, joking around with
a very meek Alex. The kitchen was totally ruined.'

Jay was in stitches so was Reilly. Alex sat there feigning discomfort,
shuffling her pasta from one side of the plate to the other.

'It really isn't that funny. I was terrified!'

'I'm sorry Alex. I know you must have been, but it's still funny.' Jay said
trying to swallow her laughter. Now Alex started to grin to, as she always
did when her mother told the story.

'Oh don't worry about it, my mom just loves making me look like a total
hopeless cause! It was because of that, that I never set my foot in a
kitchen again!'

'Nice blame me! Alex you could never cook!' Reilly lightly punched her
daughter on the arm. 'That was just the perfect excuse!'

'Damn you got me there!' Alex said happily.

'Well it won't work with me! We re going to cook, together.' Jay said
determinately.

The rest of dinner went very well, Jay really warmed up to Reilly. Reilly
also noticed it, but still was careful, she also noticed the two of them
stealing glances at each other when they thought the other wasn't
looking. They were obviously in love with each other, but neither wanted to
tell the other. She knew Alex thought she shouldn't, but what could be
Jay's reason? When they finished they quickly took care of the kitchen.

'So you guys up for a movie?' Reilly asked as they finished up.

'Thank you, but I think I'll go to bed, I'm still tired.' Jay declined the
offer.

'Alex what about you?' Alex looked over at Jay with a questioning glance,
when she nodded she turned to her mom.

'Yea, sure why not. Jay will you be ok or do I quickly just take you up?'

'I'll be fine! Enjoy yourselves! Goodnight.'

'Night beautiful.'

'Goodnight Jay, hope you sleep well.' Jay left and Alex and Reilly made
their way to the living room.

Alex made herself comfortable on her favourite chair and watched as her
mother got some movies for them to choose from.

'Mom, could we maybe just talk a bit?' Reilly put down the movies and sat
down on the couch.

'I was hopping you would say that.' She looked directly at Alex. 'Alex she
is a keeper!'

'I know! It scares how much I care. I really can't seem to function
properly if I don't know where she is.'

'I know, it is so sweet. You have to tell her Alex.'

'I can't, she is not ready to hear it, she is so precious to me, I can't
fuck it up! I have to be careful.' Alex was obviously frustrated.

'Don't wait to long Alex. I think what she wants to hear from you more than
anything else is exactly that.'

'Why do you say that?'

'Because I watched you two at dinner tonight. You were both staring at each
other when you thought the other wasn't looking. I know I might be older
than you two and don't understand the dating world of today, but I know
that look.'

'What look?'

'The look that says 'I love you more than you could ever guess.' And
believe me, you both had it.'

Alex thought for a while about that. She trusted her mother, she was always
a good judge of character, but she would never admit it out loud.

'You like her?'

'Yes, I already said that! She is perfect for you.'

'How can you say that you don't even know her?'

'She makes you happy.' Reilly shrugged. 'That makes her perfect. And I
don't know her yet, I plan to get to know her really well.'

'Don't push her!' Alex got just a bit defensive.

'You know me better than that! I would never do that Alex, and you know
that.'

'Sorry.' Alex mumbled.

'It's ok, you are entitled to de that way, it's normal to want to protect
what you love.'

'How do you tell someone, the someone that you love them?'

'Sweetie, that only you know, but believe me that you will when you are
ready.'

'You think so? Because I want her to remember it. It has to be special.'

'It will be, that I can guarantee you.'

'How do you know?'

'Because you will give her the greatest present she has ever been
given... your heart.' Reilly said with emphasis. She knew that Alex would
from this point on always be linked to Jay, and although she was happy for
her it made her a little sad to know this, her little girl would never be
just hers again.

'You always know exactly what to say to calm me down.' Alex got up hugged
her mother and headed for the door. 'Thanks mom. I think I'm going to bed
now, I have some things to think trough. Goodnight.'

'Goodnight sweetie.' Reilly watched her go, she lay back on the couch and
closed her eyes. It was nice to have two people in the house that were so
much in love. It had been a while.



Maybe mom is right? Maybe I should tell Jay what I feel for her. But is she
ready? I can not lose her she... I really do love her to much to loose
her. As scary as this sounds to me, I want to grow old with her wake up in
the morning with her in my arms. Ok more likely crushing her. She knows me,
or at least that's what it feels like, and I want to know everything about
her. But is she ready?

Alex got to her room and opened the door, she wasn't really that surprised
to find Jay sleeping in her bed. She had known she would find Jay here. She
undressed put on a shirt and boxershorts. Then she slipped in behind Jay
hugging her tight.

'Well beautiful, what am I going to do about this?' Alex said to Jay but
more to herself. 'I don't want to push you, but I just don't know how long
I can keep this inside. My mom knows and so does Sally, it's apparently
written on my face. It also scares me, I've never felt this way about any
one, and that won't change.' Alex sighed and then drifted of to sleep.

Jay had still been awake when Alex entered her room, she was about to turn
to her when Alex started speaking. Jay knew she should have told Alex she
was awake but what Alex was saying seemed so important. After Alex finished
Jay realized, that maybe Alex was more scared of her feelings for her than
Jay was of her feelings for Alex. She decided to let Alex make the first
move. She only hoped it was soon. Jay then was lulled into sleep by Alex's
mumbling voice.



The next morning Alex woke up early, she had a mission and was going to
prove herself. She went downstairs got a cup of coffee and told her mother
she was going shopping. When her mother asked about a list Alex just
answered she didn't need one.

Upstairs Jay woke up a few minutes after Alex got up, she seemed to not be
able to sleep without Alex there. She also got up, thinking she would find
Alex in the kitchen. When she got there Alex wasn't there. Reilly was and
looked up at her with a smile. She found it very sweet the puzzled look on
Jay's face. Jay was still tussled and unmade.

'Good morning Jay. Can I get you a cup of coffee?'

'Yes please.' Jay never could function without her morning coffee. 'Do you
know where Alex is?'

'Yip, my daughter went shopping.' Reilly chuckled.

'Alex! Are you sure?'

'Yip, that's what she said.'

'This should be interesting.' Jay remarked. 'Really interesting.'

Reilly got up and got Jay a cup of coffee. When she handed it to Jay, she
thought to herself that this might just be her opportunity to get to know
Jay better.

'Would you join me for breakfast?' Reilly asked. 'I really would like the
company.'

'Yes, why not.' Jay sat down and made herself comfortable. 'I hope Alex
leaves the supermarket in one piece.'

'That would be asking to much, I think.'

'Probably right there.'

They were silent for a while. Reilly got up and set the table for
breakfast. She wanted this to be comfortable and not pressured.

'Tell me Jay how did you and Alex meet?' Reilly already knew the answer,
but decided this would be a nice way to get Jay to open up a bit, and see
things from her perspective.

Jay smiled at the question. It wasn't what she had expected, it was
actually something she didn't mind talking about. She told Reilly how they
had met, and as she talked her face would light up at curtain
places. Places where she would cut out little details, some things mothers
just didn't need to know.

Reilly listened, but found it easier to read Jay by looking at her. Her
face was like a book, she could never be a good liar. Everything Reilly
wanted to know was written there. And when Jay's face lit up she could just
imagine why! Alex had found a very sweet and caring woman.

'You know she loves you.' Reilly said without thinking.

'How...' Reilly looked at the shocked face in front of her.

'How do I know?' Reilly laughed softly. 'When Alex called me and told me
you were dying.'

'Excuse me?'

'You were having a nightmare, and she got it in her head you were on your
deathbed.' Realization dawned on Jay's face, and the hint of a smile.

'She was worried about me?'

'To death!' Reilly answered.

'She worries about me.'

'Does it surprise you?' This was truly a strange reaction Reilly thought.

'It does and then it doesn't. She really meant it!' Jay was now really
giggling. It was somehow different hearing it from Reilly, more real.

'Meant what?' Now it was Reilly who seemed to be a bit lost.

'When she said it! She meant it.' Jay was just beaming. 'Even last night I
had my doubts but now? I feel like I could fly!'

'She told you?'

'Not that she would remember, she was sleeping.' Reilly laughed at that.

'I should have known! She is always blabbing in her sleep.' Jay got up from
the table, moved over to Reilly and hugged her. 'Now what was that for?'

'For making me so very happy! When she tells me I will be completely happy!
But I'll give her the time she needs.' Jay said.

'You have figured her out haven't you?'

'Some of her yes!'

Jay and Reilly spent the rest of the morning talking. Mostly about Alex but
Reilly got to know Jay a lot better. Reilly was impressed with her. She was
a strong person even if she didn't always seem it. She was funny and very
caring, and very intelligent. All in all she could not ask for a better
partner for her daughter.



God is it that hard to understand what I'm saying! I mean I asked for
Fillet. And then the guy wants to know what sort? Is he a moron or
something? Thank god for Ms. Greedy, thought she would have a heart attack
from all the laughing she was doing! Ok so I don't know the difference
between one piece of meat and the next. He could have asked beef, pork or
whatever! This was more difficult than I imagined it would be, but worth
it! Now I hope Jay likes this, took forever to pick out. It's a lot harder
if you are the one one having to pick.

Alex was scowling as she entered her mothers kitchen. There she found Jay
and her Mother making some sandwiches and laughing together. Jay saw her
first and winked.

'Hi there! The warrior has returned!' Jay put the lettuce she was washing
down and took one of Alex's bags then gave her a welcome home kiss.

'She really did it? My daughter went grocery shopping.' Reilly joked.

'Don't you even dare mom!' Alex snipped back. 'I have one more bag in the
car, I'll be right back.

'There's more?' Reilly mocked a gasp and then laughed at the evil stare
Alex sent her.

Alex was back in a flash. Jay and Reilly were unpacking the bags. Alex
stood in the door just admiring Jay for a second.

'This one is for you beautiful.' Alex wrapped her arms around Jay, so Jay
could see the box in her hands.

'You didn't have to bring me anything.' Jay said with a sigh, then she
opened the box.

I the box was a bouquet, one white Lily with five soft pink Tulips,
Forget-Me-Not and Lavender. Jay^s eyes were shinning and her heart was
doing strange things to her. She was speechless, this was another first,
she had never received flowers, even though she loved them.

'Do you like them?'

'...'

'I picked them myself, drove the florist completely mad.' Alex was looking
a bit anxious.

'They are beautiful, thank you!' Jay took the flowers out of the box and
stared at them.' Do you know what they mean?'

'That I really like you?'

'No Alex, the flowers the... what they represent?' Jay said Alex shook her
head.

'Tell me?'

'If you give someone a white Lily it means there is nowhere else you would
rather be than with that person. Lavender says that you are devoted and
true. The Tulips say that you can see the soul in the others eyes and
Forget-Me-Not is for your true love.'

Alex and Reilly stared at Jay. Alex just smiled, another quirk of this
woman she loved.



'Alex what exactly do you want to cook! There is enough food here for a
week.' Jay asked

'So I overdid! It didn't look like that much in the shop!' Alex
shrugged. 'I was thinking we could make Fillet with Mashed Potato and
Vegetables. I love that.'

'Great, that sounds easy enough! So do you want to help with everything or
do you want to split the work?'

'I don't know how to do anything!'

'I think we'll split.' Jay went on as if she hadn't heard her. 'You'll do
the Mashed Potato. I'll do the Fillet and then we can do the Vegetables
together.'

'I don't know what to do Jay!' Alex whined.

'I'll help you, but you are going to make them yourself.'

Alex was peeling and chopping in no time with Jay giving her directions and
orders. Alex did so with a maximum of teasing and fooling around. Jay was
laughing so hard at times she had to sit down. But in the end Alex managed,
and Jay's Fillet was just perfect. The Vegetables took the most time
because Alex just would not quite screaming and chasing Jay around the
kitchen with vengeful carrots.

'So mom what do you think?'

'Are you sure you helped make this?' Reilly joked.

'Yip! It's good, isn't it?'

'It really is. Jay you deserve a prize! I tried but I couldn't manage it!'
Reilly winked at Jay.

'It only made me want to kill her twice! I think that's not bad?'

'That's impressive!' Reilly Laughed.

'Hey I'm still here!' They all laughed.



The rest of the weekend went by in a flash and very soon Alex and Jay were
on their way home. With a promise to Reilly that they would come for
another visit soon. This time Jay slept the whole way home and when hey got
there, they headed for her apartment.

Alex had a day shift and left before Jay woke up. She was in a great mood,
no one could put a dent in it. She met Sally in the locker room and could
not stop grinning at her. Alex told her about the weekend and how great it
had been! And it was true, they had a really good time. When she told Sally
about her cooking? Well Sally just didn't believe her. Nothing Alex said
could convince her. When they were both dressed they went to find their
partners, and headed out.

'Alex!' Someone called from across the hall. 'Alex! Will you wait a damn
second?' Alex turned around and smiled even wider.

'Shane!'

'Yip, hell sis where the hell have you been? I tried to call you at your
place?'

'Sorry, I slept over at Jay's. What's up?'

'Nothing really, just wanted to make sure you got back al right.' Shane
grinned at her.

'Oh cut the bull! What's up?' Alex knew her brother better than that.

'Ok, I bet Dale that you would sleep at Jay's place, he didn't believe me!
So I need you to tell him that you did.' Shane saw her turn that special
red that meant he was in for it. 'Please?' He tried pleadingly!'

'You did what?' Alex said quietly. Her family and their their constant
betting, and now she was the focus? 'I'm sure I did not hear you right!'

'Uhm.' Shane taking the hint quickly changed the subject. 'So how's mom?'

'That's much better. She is great, she sends her love. Don't quite
understand why?' She would deal with the betting thing latter. 'You are
just so ugly, but I guess someone has to love you!'

'Ouch! Look who's talking! She always had a thing for lost puppies!' They
both laughed.

'I might be a lost puppy, but this lost puppy has the best looking woman in
the station on her arm! Now top that brother dear!' Alex cocked an eyebrow
at him.

'Ok, you know I can't, and it's killing me!' Shane manoeuvred her towards
an empty room. 'So when do I get to meet her, officially?'

'Don't know, I'll ask if she wants to meet you.'

'Seriously Alex.' Shane grinned. 'Why don't you just bring her to the pup
and she can meet everyone! I bet she'll enjoy that!'

'You are mad! There is no way in hell I'm doing that to her! Meet everyone?
I don't even like meeting everyone! She will definitely not like that.'
Alex was amazed that Shane even thought that that would work. 'Tell dad you
failed! I'm of I have to find Harris.'

'How did you know it was dad?'

'Shane, I know the two of you! That's how!' Alex left to find her partner
Harris.

Some things will never change! Those two will always be two heads in one
stupid idea after the other. But I love them anyway. Bring Jay to the pup!
That is not likely to happen any time soon! I have to talk to Susan, get a
dinner set up with her and dad, and only them! And we could invite Shane
for dinner at my place. That could work. Ok Alex now stop dreaming and of
to work.

'Harris, are we going?'

'As soon as you move Conly!'

'Hey I'm gone.' Harris and Alex went two their patrol car and headed out.



Is it normal to miss someone this soon? I'm not sure, I mean I seem to be
looking for Alex everywhere. I never did that before, but then again this
is all new. What else will it do to me? Hmm, I should stop dreaming, but
then it's so nice to dream about Alex! Was hoping to see Alex at the
station, but she wasn't back yet. Come on Jay you can handle a couple of
hours without!

'Jooste are you going to sit there and dream or are we going?' Saints,
Jay's partner asked.

'Sorry Saints, my mind is just wandering.' Saints laughed at that.

'Oh I was the same when I met my wife! Could not focus on anything, was
just to much in love.'

'It shows?'

'Oh you can tell from miles away! The same with Conly, you two are a lovely
couple.' Jay was very surprised.

'You really think so?'

'Jooste, I don't have a problem with you being gay.' He might not be the
youngest guy around but he was very sharp. 'Tina always says that you can't
choose who you fall for, and that is the truth. She makes you happy?'

'Yes, she does. Thank you Saints, and send my best to your better half!'

'That I will! Tina still wants you to come over for dinner some time.' It
was not a question, but a statement.



That was great, we were not to busy leaving me with time to think. Jay,
Jay, Jay, you are just always there now aren't you. So beautiful! Ok Alex
clean the car!

'Conly! Get down!' Suddenly everything was going in slow motion. Harris
shoved Alex to the ground, while falling Alex saw a man with a gun then she
heard the shots, all before she hit the ground. There were a few more shots
then everything was quite.

'Argh!'

'Harris! You ok?'

'The bastard hit me!' Alex saw blood coming from Harris's leg, Alex made
sure he was ok.

'Shit! I'm getting this son of a bitch!' Alex was up and running in the
direction where she had seen the man.

'Conly don't...' Alex didn't hear the rest as she ran of. Harris called for
backup, this could not get any worse in his mind. Bloody rookie!



'Officer down. Officer down! On Sprite 34. I repeat Officer down!' The
radio said, Jay and Saints looked at each other and were already heading to
the station.

'Who is stupid enough to shoot a cop at a police station?' Jay asked.

'Don't know, but we'll know soon enough.' They pulled up to the station,
there were not a lot of people yet, they weren't that far away when they
heard the call. 'What direction?'

'Up Grant street, Harris's partner is in pursuit!' Everyone heard the shots
and Saints was already driving towards them, he didn't like it.

They were driving blind, they didn't exactly know where Alex was. She had
not called in her position.

'Stop! There, look there!' Jay saw Alex sitting on the ground against a
wall in a side alley.

Saints pulled the car over and they both got out of the car weapons drawn,
checking the perimeter. There was no one else there. Jay moved to Alex who
seemed to be unconscious. Alex was hit!

'Call an ambulance!' Jay shouted at Saints. 'She's breathing normally but
her arm is bleeding!'

Saints called in their position. Jay was checking for further injuries. She
opened Alex's shirt, she nearly fainted from relief. There were four hits
in her vest. The impact must have been what knocked Alex out. The vests
protected them, but it was still very painful to be hit.

'Alex!' Jay was gently shacking her. 'Alex, come on wake up!'

'Mhh.'

'Come on.' Alex was stirring. 'That's it.'

'Jay?'

'Good yes, it's me!'

'Someone shot Harris!'

'I know!'

'He got away. He shot at me.' Alex seemed a bit out of it.

'Yes he hit you.'

'The ambulance arrived. The medics took over from Jay. They checked Alex
out. Alex was soon her old self again. The shot in the arm was only a
superficial wound. Her ribs were bruised but not broken, all in all she was
extremely lucky.

'She'll be fine.' One of the paramedics said. 'We'll take her to hospital
just to be on the safe side.'

'I'm going with her.' Jay got into the ambulance. 'Saints get the message
to Shane?'

'No problem. Now get going!' Saints told the paramedics just as another
police car pulled up.

'You know, I'm fine! You don't have to come along.' Alex started, but she
stopped when she saw the look on Jay's face. She was in trouble.

'You irresponsible, pig headed, stupid fool!' Jay shouted at Alex. 'Do you
have a death wish? No! I'm not done! You go after an armed suspect with
without backup! You don't give your position! You are some sort of stupid!'

Alex was just staring. This side of Jay she had never seen before, plus
what Jay said was true, she had been very stupid! Jay looked fierce when
she was mad, and she was way beyond mad at this point. The paramedics
wisely didn't say a word and just wondered.

'I..'

'You What? You didn't think!' Alex nodded. 'Alex that is as plain as day
light! What if you had gotten really hurt or worse?'

'But I wasn't!'

'No you weren't! This time! What the hell Alex, you have a lot of people
that love you and you do something as careless as this!' Jay calmed down
when she looked into Alex's eyes.

'I'm sorry.' Alex whispered.

'I know you are, but Alex don't do that ever again! You scared me to
death!' Jay sighed and bent over Alex kissing her on her forehead. 'It's
just that I love you so much.'

Alex didn't know if it was something the paramedics had given her or what
Jay had just said, but she suddenly felt very dizzy! She was putting her
money on the latter.

'You just...' Jay kissed her tenderly to shut her up, she hadn't meant to
say it like this. It was supposed to be romantic and perfect, not in an
ambulance.

'Ladies, we're here.' The paramedic said and started to unload Alex.

Alex was taken inside and checked out properly by a doctor. Then taken to a
room for observation. Jay never left her side, and no one was going to
argue with a woman that was carrying a gun.



Jay was sitting beside a sleeping Alex when a man and woman entered the
room. The man had to be Alex's father and the woman then would be his
wife. The three people stared at each other for a minute without one making
a move.

Oh god, her dad! I forgot, does Reilly know! I should have called her. Her
dad!

'I'm... I'm...' Jay stammered.

'You would be Jay.' The woman smiled and gave her hand to Jay, 'I'm Susan
Conly and this is Angus my husband.'

'Nice to meet you ma'am.'

'Likewise, now how is our Alex doing, they were a bit sketchy over the
phone?' Susan asked, she seemed to be in control. Jay only noticed that
Angus was checking her out, so to speak. She turned even more nervous. 'Oh
calm down, he won't bite!'

'Sorry! Uhm... Alex is doing fine! She has a flesh wound on her arm and
pretty badly bruised ribs. He hit her four times.' Jay lamely finished, and
still Susan smiled and Jay then noticed that she was still holding her
hand. She blushed profusely. 'Sorry.'

'Angus are you going to say hello or stare like a baboon?' Susan turned to
her husband, he only gave her a grin, one Jay knew all to well.

'You were doing so well Sue!' But he held out his to Jay anyway. 'It is
nice to finally meet you. Now tell me what happened.'

Jay then told Angus exactly what had happened! He seemed to be mad as
hell. He was very big even in the wheelchair! And for the first time Jay
noticed that Susan was very pregnant. She looked like she could give birth
then and there. Susan noticed and just chuckled silently. Jay was suddenly
brought back by some grunts from Alex.

'Alex? You awake?' Another grunt from Alex, then she opened her eyes. She
immediately searched for Jay.

'You're still here!' She sighed and grabbed Jay's hand.

'Your dad and Susan are here, I think it's safe for me to go now.' Jay
didn't want to be in the way.

'No Jay! Please stay?' Alex begged and would not let go of Jay's hand. 'You
are not in the way!'

How Alex had known what Jay was thinking was beyond her but she did. Jay
hesitated, but when she looked at Alex's eyes her resolve buckled.

'You win. I'll stay, but I'm going to go find a chair for Susan! She has to
get of her feet!' Susan chuckled at the remark. Jay would fit in really
well.

'Now don't you dare! I'll get it myself!'

'But!'

'I would listen to her if I was you. She doesn't like it when we try to
help her.' Angus told Jay.

'And I keep telling you all I'm pregnant not sick. So there.' Susan kissed
Angus and was of to search for a chair.

Angus now focused on Alex, and Jay noticed the cringe from Alex's side. She
was sure that this was not the first time that Alex was getting that
stare. Angus was in control that was for sure.

'Dad before you start, Jay already told me how stupid and irresponsible I
was! I'm really sorry.'

'You are sorry!' Jay was right Angus was mad. 'Gosh Alexandra that makes me
feel so much better! I really thought you were a better cop than that! You
could have been killed because you made one of the most stupid mistakes any
cop could make!'

'I'm really sorry.' Jay's heart was breaking, Alex looked so broken
up. Then Angus surprised her.

'I know sweetie, but please don't do that to me again! I nearly had a heart
attack. Alex you are still my little girl, and I just want you to be safe.'
Angus took Alex's hand and kissed it lightly.

'Dad I was just trying to get the guy. He shot my partner.' Alex's hand was
still in Angus's hand. He squeezed it.

'I know, and I do understand. Believe me I do.' He looked at her with so
much love that Jay could feel it. 'You know I do.'

There was a knock at the door, then it opened.

'I hope I'm not disturbing?'

'No Sir.' Jay sprang to attention.

'Jooste could you please wait outside?'

'Yes Sir.' Jay squeezed Alex's hand and left.

Outside she found Susan sitting on a chair. She looked up and again smiled
at Jay. Jay went over to her.

'I guess this was not just any one?'

'No that was our Captain. I don't like that he is here, it can't mean
anything good.'

'You are worried?' Susan asked, trying to get a feel for Jay.

'Yes, I am. I just have a really bad feeling about this.' Jay looked at
Susan. 'This was not a coincident. I think it's serious.'

'Jay let's wait and see. It's no use to worry without knowing if we
should. Why don't you take a walk with me! I can't stand to sit around for
to long.' Susan decided to let Jay help her to keep her occupied. 'Could
you help me up? I'm not quite so steady at the moment.'

Jay immediately helped Susan up. She was in utter awe of Susan. More to the
point she was terrified that she would do something wrong. Jay was fussing
and nervous.

'Jay you don't have to be nervous. Come give me your hand.' Jay looked at
Susan a bit perplexed but gave her her hand. 'Do you feel?'

'Oh my god! Is that the baby?' Jay was grinning from excitement.

'Yes, that is the baby! She is doing her gymnastics routine again.' Jay
could really feel the baby move, it was something so amazing.

'It's a girl?'

'Yes do you want to know her name?' Jay could only nod. 'You just met
Christina Conly, but Angus and the rest are already calling her Chris.'

'Chris? That sounds right.' Before Jay could go on they saw the Captain
come towards them. Susan's distraction faded in an instant.

'Jooste.' The Captain nodded then nodded at Susan. 'Mrs. Conly.'

Susan saw the grin fade and the worry return, it touched her that Jay was
this worried. They both headed for Alex's room. When they entered there was
utter silence, Jay immediately knew something was wrong.

'Susan why don't you and Jay sit down.' Angus said, he sounded worried.

'Alex what's going on?' Jay managed to ask even though her mouth was
suddenly as dry as a dessert.

'I... I.' Alex Couldn't say it, she turned to her father and just looked at
him. He understood.

'Someone tried to kill Alex.' Jay looked perplexed, they already knew
that. 'Uhm at the station, the suspect was aiming at Alex. Harris saw it
just in time. He saved her life.' Jay was now ash white in the face. 'There
is more. A man claiming to be the man at the station called the station and
told them that the next time he wouldn't miss.'

'Donn...'

'No it's not him. They checked him out first, he isn't involved in
this. They have no idea who it is or why.' Angus went on, he saw the worry
and fear on Jay's face and also saw his daughter. Scarred and vulnerable.

There was a a silence that was finally broken by Susan.

'Angus I think these two need to talk.' When he didn't move she poked
him. 'Alone!'

'Ok but I'll be outside if you need me.' Angus and Susan left

Jay was speechless, she didn't know what to say.

No not Alex! It has to be a mistake. Who would want to hurt Alex! Why now?
What did she ever do? I can't lose her! I would never recover!

'Jay?' Alex asked nervously. 'What am I going to do?'

'Alex not you! What are we going to do?'Jay moved closer to Alex, she
needed her nearness. 'I don't know, but you aren't going home alone! That
just won't happen. You will stay with me, and until you are back at work
you will stay with your dad when I'm working! I want to know you are with
someone, otherwise I will not be able do anything!'

Alex just nodded, she was still to shocked to argue. They were silent
again. Each in her own head trying to make sense of what was
happening. They couldn't! It seemed to make no sense.

'Alex who would want to hurt you?' Jay finally broke the silence.

'I really have no idea! I'm trying to think of someone, but I'm totally
blank!' Jay could hear the frustration in Alex's voice.

'Ok, what did the Captain say?'

'He said they think it might be someone I arrested. They are looking into
that.'

'They are probably right! This was just some vindictive ass!' Jay said this
with enthusiasm, but she didn't believe it. This was something else! She
just didn't know what. 'Now do you know that you look cute like this?'

'What?'

'Well I think this is the calmest I have ever seen you in a bed. So this is
what it takes to get you to lie still!' Jay was trying to get Alex to think
of something else.

'Hey! I'm hurt!' Alex smiled, which was exactly what Jay had wanted.

'Well that's what I meant!'

'I'm going to get you for that! Is this how you treat your girlfriends?
Then I don't want to know how you treat your enemies! Ouch!' Alex pulled
Jay to her and they kissed and laughed.

'You are something else! I think I'm going to like having you around.'

Alex smiled, she liked the idea of staying with Jay. She then suddenly
remembered what Jay had said in the ambulance! How could she have
forgotten!

'Jay did you mean what you said before?'

'Huh?' Jay looked perplexed.

'I mean in the ambulance.' The door burst open and in walked Shane. He had
always had terrible timing according to Alex.

'Alex! You had me worried! What the hell was that?'

'Hello Shane, yes I'm feeling better.' Alex sarcastically said.

'You know you are really something!' Shane sat down next to her on the bed,
only then did he notice Jay. 'Huh, I guess I get to meet her after all!'

'Shane this is Jay.' Alex said and gave Shane a dirty look. 'Jay this is
apparently my brother Shane.'

Jay was looking at the both of them, they could not be anything but
siblings. The way they acted and moved around the other, it was
obvious. Jay also noticed the look Alex gave Shane. She was worried about
her. Again Jay was just about to melt.

'Hi Shane.' Jay offered her hand, Shane bear hugged her! Laughing like a
lunatic.

'Shane! Stop that!' Alex shouted

'So you are the one that stole my sisters heart? Well that deserves a
proper hug, don't you think?'

Jay stood there in total shock! He sure didn't hide his emotions. She
stared at Alex for a second before the door opened and in came Susan and
Angus.

'Shane! What the hell is going on in here?' Angus asked.

'I'm just saying hello.'

Angus stared at him and he backed of, leaving Jay standing alone. This was
really becoming to much for her. She needed to get out of there.

'I...I need some air! Alex I'm going outside to call your mom!' Jay almost
stumbled on her way out. Shane wanted to say something but the looks he was
getting from both Alex and Susan stopped him.



Come on Jay pull yourself together! Alex needs you, besides they are only
her family! They won't bite! They might! No they won't. Shane was just
happy Alex was ok, and that's why he acted the way he did! She told me they
were like this, so why am I this surprised! Look they like me! Shane nearly
crushed me, that means I like you, doesn't it. According to Sam it does!

Jay was outside Walking aimlessly. She was just a bit overwhelmed, and
Alex's whole family! She was more than scared of them. She was terrified!
She finally decided she would call Reilly, that was what she had said she
would do, so she would!

'This is Reilly Conly speaking?' She sounded very crisp over the phone.

'Uhm... Reilly it's Jay...' She couldn't finish the sentence as Reilly cut
her of.

'Oh Jay! Are you ok?' Reilly sounded worried. Jay guessed she knew. 'Shane
said Alex was ok, but how are you? You found her?'

Jay finally sank to the ground and cried. She now knew why she had called
Reilly. It had nothing to do with telling her about Alex! She needed a
shoulder to cry on. She needed her mother, but that was not going to
happen, so she called the person that had treated her like one.

'I'm...I'm' Jay tried between sobs.' I'm scared!' She finally managed

'I know Jay, I know! I can't imagine what is going on with you! But I'm
listening if you need to talk!' Reilly was extremely touched that Jay had
called her, she also knew that Jay as well as Alex needed her.

'I don't know what to do! I can't loose Alex! I just can't loose her!

'You won't! And you have me and Angus, Shane and Susan! We will be there
all the way.' Jay grunted at that. 'I guess that means you have met my
lovely son and Angus?' Jay managed a tear soaked laugh.

'Shane nearly crushed me! Angus interrogated me! Susan was the only one
that seemed normal.'

'That sounds about right! I guess they were just a bit to much?'

'I just had to leave, but I hate leaving Alex alone...'

'Jay she isn't alone! I know she understands, because she understands you!
Now you are going back in there then take Alex home! She will be better of
with you than anyone else! I'll come to your place once my plane gets
there! Are you going to be ok Jay?' Jay swallowed, the thought that Reilly
was on her way calmed her some.

'Yes, yes I will.' Jay managed to sound convincing.

'Then I'm going to get on my plane. I will see you soon! And Jay just give
as much as they give! That will get them of your back!'

'Thank you Reilly, I don't know what I would have done without you!'

'Any time! And I mean that Jay! Bye for now!' The phone clicked of.

Jay sat there a while longer just gathering herself. She would be ok! Then
she got up and went back inside to get Alex.



When she got to the room she heard laughter coming from it. She took a deep
breath and went inside. Everyone was sitting comfortably, and chatting
away. Jay walked over to Alex and sat down on the bed next to her. Reilly
had told her to give as good as she got!

'You feel better beautiful?' Alex whispered in Jay's ear, giving Jay even
more courage. She nodded.

'What my mom say?' Shane tried.

'She apologized for you manners, told me you learned them from you father!'
It was silent for a second or so, Jay was starting to feel like an idiot,
then Angus started to laugh like a bull. Soon everyone was laughing, Alex
squeezed Jay's hand, she was so proud of her.

'I guess she has that one right! Now I think it's time we take Alex home!'

Alex wanted to speak up, but Jay shook her head.

'We would appreciate it if you could give us a ride to my apartment. Alex
just won't fit on my bike.' Angus was about to protest when Jay went
on. 'Alex will be staying with me, that is not up for discussion! When I'm
working she will stay with one of you or you can stay with her at my place!
We discussed and decided it was what we wanted.'

'Then that is what we will do. Isn't it Angus?' Susan said, she hadn't
missed Jay's hands shaking. Angus grunted his consent. Shane wisely said
nothing.

The doctor signed Alex out and Shane drove Alex and Jay. He dropped them of
and was of before the door had closed properly! He knew when he wasn't
wanted, and this was definitely one of those times.



They were half way up the steps when Alex heard music coming from Jay's
place. She frowned at that, it wasn't like Jay to forget something like
that.

'Beautiful did you forget to switch of your music?' Jay tensed up like a
coil! She shoved Alex behind her and drew her gun.

'Stay here!'

Alex saw Jay move to her door and open the door carefully. Then it was
silent for a while. Nothing, not a sound, just the music. Then Alex heard a
woman shriek. She moved then.

'HOLY SHIT!' Alex heard that as she entered the apartment. Then she heard
Jay laugh. It was like nothing she had heard before! It was so alive and
full of fun! When she entered Jay's study she saw Jay had her arms wrapped
around another woman, they were both laughing like lunatics! Alex was
shocked! Then Jay turned and saw Alex. Her eyes became even brighter than
they already were.

'Alex I would like you to meet someone!' Jay calmed down so she could
speak. 'This is Jane! My baby sister!'

'Jane?' Alex was stunned.

'Ok Jay, you have some explaining to do!' Jane told her.

'I agree!' Alex said. Jay could only grin.

Jay then told Jane about her and Alex, with Alex interrupting here and
there. Then she looked at Jane. It was her turn, Jay didn't have a clue
that she was coming, or what her plans were.

'Ok, spill!'

'Come on can't a girl just visit her sister?' Jane tried.

'Not you!What are you doing here?'

'Ok, I've had it! I just moved here! I was hoping you had some room for
me?' Jay stared at her sister for a long time.

'You moved here? What does that mean?'

'Well you see you pack all your belongings and then leave your home and...'

'Hey Jane, don't be a smart ass! Mom let you go?' Jay was now a bit angry
because she feared she already knew the answer to this question.

'No, she didn't! She doesn't even know! I told her I was going away for a
couple of days.' Jane said, confirming Jay's suspicions. Jay shook her
head.

'Great now I'm going to have her on my neck.' Alex saw the hurt she had
seen before when Jay talked about her parents return. She moved closer to
Jay and Jay melted into her.

'I'm sorry Jay maybe I should not have come here. I'll go!' Jane moved to
get up. Jay grabbed her hand, even if it did mean trouble she was glad to
see Jane. She had really missed her.

'Don't be stupid, I'm just tired! You know I'm cranky when I'm tired! Now
sit down and tell us everything you have been up to. That should make both
me and Alex feel better.'

Jane then told them everything leading up to her sudden departure from
home. Jay was right they felt a lot better. Jane could always tell what was
going on in her life and have people around her laughing. It didn't escape
Jane the way Jay and Alex acted around each other. So her sister had
finally found someone that was good for her. She deserved nothing less than
happiness.

'I think I'm going to bed, I'm a bit woozy.' Alex said after a while, she
would have loved to talk more but was really just to tired.

'Alex is right, she should have gotten into bed when we got here! Jane I
guess you already know where everything is?' Jay asked also getting up.

'Ugm, I'll find what I need.'

'Just as I thought. Sleep tight.'

'Night guys.'

'Night Jane.' Alex and Jay headed for the bedroom.

'This was a long day, wasn't it?'

'You could say that! Things ok with you beautiful?'

'I'm fine. Now lets go to bed.' Alex was not convinced, it was there again!
The feeling that Jay was hiding something. 'You getting in?'

'Of course!' Alex smiled, and got in.

She wanted to probe some more, but didn't get the chance. Jay kissed her,
and what a kiss! Soft and tender. Before Alex could recover she was
asleep. Jay stared at her for the longest time. Her past was coming to
haunt her. She knew it! Her mother never missed an opportunity to rub it in
her face. She pushed those thoughts away and concentrated on Alex! Alex was
the only thing that mattered.

Jay didn't call Alex but she did go to the station after the shift
ended. Alex wasn't back yet, which meant that she and her partner were
responding to a call. She didn't want to go inside so she just sat on the
curb and thoughtfully tried to occupy her mind. It seemed to be wandering,
always towards Alex. She didn't notice the person coming out of the station
and head her way, and didn't notice when she started talking to her. She
sure as hell jumped when the person nudged her elbow.

Hi there, private party or can anyone join?'

'Jeez you scared the shit out of me, Sally! Don't you know it's rude to
creep up on people?' Jay panted.

'I wasn't creeping, but you wouldn't have noticed if the Titanic sailed
by. I was talking to you and no response, where were you right then?' Sally
Laughed.

'Truth be told, I don't know exactly. Seems a bit jumbled now.' Jay hoped
this sounded convincing, she wasn't going to tell Sally she was thinking of
Alex, especially Alex doing what she was doing.

'Yea, right and pig fly! But hey you don't have to tell me, still I've seen
the very same look on another person I know, she was more forthcoming.'
Sally grinned at the expression on Jay's face. 'Even if she wasn't, the
whole station is buzzing with the rumour.' She wanted to see how far Jay
was going to push the innocent act.

'Ugh, everyone already knows about it?' Jay grunted, she had hoped that she
and Alex would at least have a day or so before everyone knew.

Sally was truly impressed, she didn't try to hide the fact that she was
with Alex, or that she didn't expect people to know. Jay just seemed a bit
depressed that it had happened so fast. Sally guessed she would have liked
to have just a bit of time to get used to being called the girlfriend or
the bitch, depending on who you spoke to.

'Well after Alex reported Donn, it spread like wild fire. Donn wasn't
exactly going to let you guys of after that.' Sally saw a smile creep to
Jay's lips, was that pride.

'She reported him?' Jay asked.

'Yip, and I must say it was about time someone did.' Sally said firmly.

'She is something.' Jay said more to herself than to Sally. 'What happened
to him?'

'After it came out what Alex had done, a lot of other women came forward
and did the same. I'm not exactly sure what happened after that, I was on
patrol, but from what I gathered Donn was suspended pending an
investigation. He apparently didn't go silently!' Sally said.

'What does that mean?'

'Uhm... He sort of threatened Alex, and you to.' Sally hadn't meant to go
there, the captain would have informed Alex and Jay.

'The bloody bastard! If he so much as bends a hair on Alex's head
I'll... I'll!'

'Easy tiger, he wouldn't dare. Besides he is a moron.' Sally tried to get
Jay to relax again, she was red in the face and coiled to attack. Sally
found it interesting how defensive Jay was about Alex. Alex being the
bigger of the two.

'Well you are right there, he is a moron.' Jay was coming down, she was as
surprised at her reaction as Sally had been, she didn't want to give away
to much so she tied to change the subject. 'What did the stations rumour

'Oh, you know. You and Alex were a couple, and had been for a while. But as
I said I talked to Alex, she told me the truth. Hey don't look so
surprised, Alex is a very good friend, and I hope you will let me be yours
to.' This was risky, Sally knew, especially if what Alex had said about Jay
was true.

'...'

'Look Jay I have known Alex a very long time, and I have seen her ups and
her downs, and boy is she on an up right now. You seem to be the reason for
the up, and thus I would really like to get to know you better, but maybe I
should have been so blunt, I better leave.'

Jay was still staring when she realized that Sally was leaving. She thought
for a second, then acted.

'Sally!' Sally turned around.

'Yes?'

'You don't have to go. I guess Alex told some about me?' Jay asked, and for
the first time Sally could see the shyness about her.

'Not much, but a little something that intrigued me, yes.' Sally answered.

'I could use a friend Sally.' Jay said looking at the ground.

'I'm willing and able, and I promise I won't bite!' Sally joked.

'Great! Hey I have an idea, do you want to come to my place and have dinner
with me and Alex?' Jay asked.

'Since I heard you are great in the kitchen... I'd love to.'

'Is seven good for you?'

'Perfect!'

Jay gave Sally her number and and address. Jay had decided to trust Sally
because it was obvious that Alex did, and she trusted Alex. So she jumped
into the fire, hoping for the best.

'Where the hell is Alex, she should have been back by now?' Jay asked after
a while.

'She's been back a while, she had to stick around though, the captain
wanted a word. She'll probably be out any moment.'

'Oh.'

'Jay but I have to love you and leave you, I have a meeting to keep.'

'See you tonight?'

'Wouldn't miss it for the world, till then!' Sally shouted already walking
away.

Jay sat back down to wait for Alex, all the while making a menu in her head
for the dinner later on.



Man this is to much, now I have to be careful because the bastard
threatened me! I hate that man! Shit and Jay hasn't called, hope she saw
the note! Maybe I should just call her and Ask whether she has any plans
for today. I mean last night it was her turn, now it has to be mine, right?
Hmm, is confusing and... and I don't know what. Sally, yea I'll call Sally!
She always knows how to straighten me out.

Alex was pulling her phone out of her pocket when she stopped dead in her
tracks. There sitting on the curb was Jay. Her heart nearly flew out of the
top of her head, so light did it feel. Alex would have worried about this
fact if she had been able to think right then.

Jay somehow felt Alex, and before Alex had time react to seeing Jay, she
turned around and smiled as she got up and walked towards Alex. She was as
nervous as a school girl on her first day at school.

'Hi Alex.' She ventured.

'...' Alex was still speechless.

'Umm, I hope it's ok that I just showed up here?'

'Are you kidding? You are the best thing that walked over my path today!'
Alex Finally managed to get out, getting a kick out of the blush from Jay.

'Well is the offer still open about meeting your special Muppet?' Jay
giggled.

'Hehehe, of course! But first I think I should tell you something.' Jay saw
Alex's eyes go from mischievous to worried. She already knew what was
coming.

'Is it about Donn? Because I am so proud of what you did Alex! And Donn can
go to hell! And for the threats, they don't hold any water.' Alex put her
finger on Jay's lips to shut her up, feeling all warm because Jay said she
was proud of her.

'How did you know about that?' Alex was a bit perplexed.

'Oh right. Sally and I were just chatting and she mentioned it.'

'Sally? Who else. Look I'm just worried he'll do something to you. I have a
restraining order against him, per order of the captain, but you, you
don't.'

'Restraining order huh?'

'Yes, the captain said he thought it would be a good idea. But I'm worried
about his threats towards you!' There appeared a sneaky little grin on
Jay's face.

'Well then I guess I'm suck with you for a while!' Alex stared at Jay as if
she was now completely mad, she just didn't understand this woman. 'You are
not seriously not getting this, are you?'

'What?'

'As long as I stick with you Donn can't come close to me...because I'm with
you?' Jay's eyes twinkled.

'Shit, you're right! So what do you propose?' Alex Laughed as she finally
caught on.

'Well that's easy, isn't it? Spend as much time together as is
decent. Starting with going shopping.'

'Shopping, I could think of a couple of things we could do instead of
that.' Alex said with a lot of honey dripping from the tone of voice.

'Oh I'm sure, but dinner won't cook itself.'

'Dinner? We had dinner last night.' Alex complained.

'Yes, but We can't serve that to Sally, now can we?' Jay giggled at the
face Alex was pulling.

'Sally, man she works fast. She invite herself then?'

'Nope I did, she's a nice person, plus she's a friend of yours. I thought
it would be nice, plus you get to help me cook!' The perplexed look on
Alex's face told Jay all she needed to know. 'You don't cook do you?'

'Uhm... my mom complains that I am the only person she knows that could
possibly burn water. If that answers your question.' Alex mumbled, slightly
blushing.

'I'll teach you. Now let's go, we've got the whole afternoon, if we shop
now we can do something else before we start dinner, deal?'

'Deal, but really I'm not kidding when I say I can't cook!' Jay chuckled at
Alex's statement.

'Mhh, tell me how did you survive, I mean without being able to cook?'

'Easy, take out!'

'Oh god, a take out junky huh?'

'Yip, that I am. But lets get going so we can get to the other stuff you
promised!' Alex was suddenly very enthusiastic, and Jay decided she should
really get a preview.

Jay grabbed Alex by the wrist and turned her back and into her, then she
stood on her toes and kissed Alex, slow at first, just lips brushing
lightly. Then she pushed her tongue against Alex's lips, she hesitated only
a second then opened her lips. Jay was now assaulting her mouth completely,
not letting Alex get any control. When she felt Alex go wobbly she pulled
away and grinned at her, giving her a final kiss on the lips she walked
away. Alex was totally in awe, Jay had nearly made her orgasm with a
kiss. She knew what she was doing that was for sure.

'Well are you coming or what?' Jay teased after a while.

'Uhm, once I can walk again, sure. You are one hell of a kisser, do you
know that?'

'Didn't till you just went all gooey on me, plus that was just to make you
move faster.'

'Faster? I can't move at all!' Alex grunted.

'I guess you don't want to come home with me then, for some more of that
then? My mistake.' Jay sauntered of, and Alex finally found her legs
again. She was beside Jay in a flash taking Jay's hand in her own. 'Now
that I could get used to.'

'You will, I'm not planning on letting you go any time soon. Now lets do
this, I want my reward.' Alex giggled and they were of.



Shopping with Alex was fun but tiring, one could have believed the woman
had never been in a supermarket before. And once she found out what Jay
wanted to make she became even worse. She would tell anyone that would
listen that her girlfriend is a genius. She horsed around, pushing Jay on
the trolley and nearly having them thrown out because she accidentally
toppled a toilet paper tower. Only once Jay told the manager that they were
both police officers and that Alex had just come of a triple shift and was
truly a bit crazy from lack of sleep, could they pay and leave. Jay didn't
think the manager believed them, but them being cops was probably what
convinced him to let them go. Alex of course found this hilarious. But they
had fun and Jay got such a kick out of Alex calling her her girlfriend that
she didn't notice the time fly by.

'We bought enough food to feed an army Alex! Why? Remind me?' Jay asked
once they were back at her place putting everything away.

'Easy, so we don't have to go shopping for the next couple of days. Plus it
was fun. Wow is it really 5.30 already?'

'Shit your right it is! We better start dinner then, no better you stay out
of the way or it will never get done. Make yourself comfy then.' Jay
sighed, she knew if she wanted the food ready on time she would have to do
it herself.

'Ok, but do you think it would be ok if I dash home and take a shower and
change. I never got to the shower after shift.'

'Sure, Then I guess I'll see in an hour or so?' Jay asked with a hint of
disappointment in her voice.

'Hehhehehehe, actually more like ten minutes beautiful!' Alex laughed at
the expression on Jay's face. 'We are sort of neighbours see, I live just
across the park.'

'And you didn't tell me that yesterday?' Jay was fuming a bit.

'Hey you were the one that said no buts!' Alex chuckled 'But hey I'll be
right back.'

'Ok, still not forgiven though.' Alex leaned in and kissed her short but
with a lot of feeling. 'mmhhh, that's better. Here take my keys, just let
yourself back in.' Jay took her keys of its hook and handed them over.

'Thanks beautiful, see you in a bit!' Alex shouted as she left.



'Hell Jay you have one hell of a library here! Now tell me did you really
read all of these? And be honest! I mean when did you have the time? Sweet
Pratchet! And if I'm not mistaken all of his books.' Alex was in Jay's
study, going around checking for authors, she knew.

'I take it you like reading then?' Jay shouted from the kitchen across the
hall.

'Yip, but I guess I'm an amateur! Wow I could just curl up in here and be
content and spend the next year happy!'

'Glad you approve.'

'Again did you really read them all?'

'Yes, I did.'

Alex walked back into the kitchen holding a book, and reading the back. She
looked so cute, was all that Jay could think. Jay was busy putting the
final touches on dinner. Alex slipped her arms around Jay and hugged her
tight.

'Tell me, can I borrow this?' Showing Jay the book.

'Mhhh, sure.' The doorbell went of just before they kissed. 'Could you get
that Alex?'

'Trust Sally to have awful timing. Hey don't look at me that way, she does
really have terrible timing. Yea,yea I'm going.'

Jay chuckled as Alex put the book down and gave her one more look and then
headed for the door, to buzz Sally up. When the knock at the door came Alex
waited just a beat then opened the door.

'Well, well look what the cat dragged in!' Alex smiled at Sally.

'Hi to you to.' Sally answered not falling for the bait.

'Do you know that you have the worst timing? I mean really bad.'

'Is that so? And what was I disrupting?' Sally leaned in mocking interest.

'I could tell you... but then I'd have to kill you.' Alex whispered for
effect.

'Sounds fiendish. You seem to be very at ease here.' Sally decided it was
time to get back to reality. Plus it was true, Alex looked like she was at
home, and happy.

'You know what I'm beginning to feel that way. I even went shopping... for
food!' Alex told Sally.

'I don't believe you.' Sally had never seen Alex come near the food section
of any store, unless it was a take out place. Sally was very curious to see
the two of them together.

'Ask Jay.'

'That I will. Where is she anyway?'

'I'm in the kitchen! Come on in and make yourself at home!' Jay called from
the kitchen.

'Well you heard the lady. Come on in Sally, best if we go to the
kitchen. I'm telling you Jay is a genius in there, and she looks so good in
an apron.'

'Well it smells great, and if the smell is something to go by I fully
agree.'

Sally followed Alex to the kitchen. Alex walked over and wrapped her arms
around Jay's waist. Unfortunately Jay wasn't expecting it and nearly jumped
out of her skin.

'EARKS! Shit!' she screamed and turned around with a chef's knife in her
hand and the thumb of her other hand bleeding.

Alex nearly fainted when she saw the knife and the cut she had caused.

'Sorry, oh I'm so sorry Jay!'

'Alex... Alex it's fine I've had worse!' Jay tried to convince Alex but she
was still apologising profusely, and didn't really hear her. So Jay did the
only thing that came to mind to shut Alex up, she kissed her. Alex was
caught of side but once Jay had her lips firmly against Alex's she
melted. The kiss was all fire and left both panting. Then they remembered
Sally, or rather Sally reminded them.

'Wow, you two seriously need a cold shower! That singed my eyebrows all the
way over here.' She remarked as the two stepped away from each other. Alex
and Jay turned a very nice shade of red. 'Oh yea, Alex never ever disturb
someone holding a knife that big, it could be bad for your health.'

'Oh aren't we funny tonight?' Alex sarcastically replied, which she
couldn't quite pull of with her blush still very evident. 'Jay are you ok?'

'Alex I'm fine, I've really had worse. I'm a bit accident prone, so don't
worry, see it nearly stopped bleeding.' Jay gave Alex a reassuring peck on
the cheek, then turned to Sally. 'Sorry about that! Great to see you
Sally.'

'Thanks for inviting me. I hope you don't mind I brought a bottle of
wine. You do drink?' Sally asked, knowing that Alex never did.

'I do, and thank you that was nice of you.'

'Hope it works with what you're cooking.'

'I'm sure it will. Alex why don't you take Sally to the living room. I'll
bring the food out in a sec.' Jay nudged them both to the door.

'Me thinks we are in the way Sally, so let us go yonder door and be merry!'
Alex was theatrically swinging her arms pointing and pulling Sally out the
door.

'God, you can be such a goof!' Sally laughed.

'So?' Alex asked nervously.

'So what?'

'What do you think?'

'I think you are totally in love with her.'

'That I know, it scares me that it happened so fast. And I have to be so
careful Jay is very... I can't exactly explain what she is, I just know I
have to take it slow. And let her be in control.'

'Wow, you are really in love, aren't you? So she is making the moves, it
must be killing you?' Sally now became aware just how much emotion was in
Alex for Jay, she had never seen Alex respond to someone like she was doing
now.

'Yes and no. It's the first time I feel like it doesn't matter who is in
control as long as I know that Jay is there. Oh and god can she kiss!'

'That I did notice, so when will you tell your family? You know actually
they probably already know, don't they?' Alex's eyes suddenly became big as
she realized what Sally meant.

'Shane!'

'Shane, that is what I was thinking. Boy I'm glad I'm not Jay, your family
is a handful, and you know they will want to meet her as soon as is
possible.' Sally went on, Alex really becoming more and more dejected. She
had promised Jay that they would go slow, but she knew Sally was right
about her family.



God I have to calm down, I feel like a five year old about to be
scolded. Sally is a really nice person, and a good friend of Alex! Yes
that's right. She'll like me... god I hope she likes me! Stop that, I'm not
going to go there! Now get it together and lets serve dinner.

Jay walked into the living room and onto the balcony where Sally and Alex
were already sitting and chatting. She had the salad with her and put the
plates down in front of each of them. She then sat down and joined
them. Sally was very aware that Jay seemed to be very nervous, she couldn't
sit still and kept wringing her hands.

'This looks great Jay!' Sally tried to lighten the mood.

'My hero, I was starving! Now what do I have in front of me beautiful?'
Alex's voice seemed to do wonders, Jay was more relaxed and she lent into
Alex their hands unconsciously coming together.

'Nothing fancy, it's just a simple Greek salad. But it's nice and
refreshing.' Jay looked at them both and seeing both enjoying the salad
tried to eat some herself.

'Jay this is fantastic. Alex was right, you are a find.' Sally praised her
once she was done. This again seemed to put Jay a little bit more at ease.

'So you guys ready for some pasta?' Jay smiled at them.

'Oh yes for sure!' Alex answered for both of them.

Jay left and went to get the pasta. Alex and Sally in the meantime chatted
some more. Things were going well they both thought. Sally was really
surprised at how nervous Jay was, she really didn't believe Alex before,
she sure did now.

'Here we are, one for you, you and finally me. Enjoy!' Jay sat down and
again waited for the other two to begin eating. She felt better, and loved
listening to the other two chat. It felt good to have other people around.

They ate and enjoyed and Sally and Alex were telling old stories from when
they were younger. Jay just sat and listened, not wanting to impose on
them. When they were done Alex gave Sally a nudge and a pleading look,
which told Sally to turn her attention to Jay.

'Alex wasn't kidding when she said you were incredible in the kitchen, that
was amazing.' Jay blushed a bit. 'Where did you learn to cook like that?'

'Oh, I guess I just picked it up, was bound to with my family all loving to
cook.'

'I guess that means you have siblings?'

'Yea, I do. Two brothers and a sister.'

They talked for a hour or so, Sally pulling Jay into the conversation,
asking about where she grew up, and Jay loosened up and started to enjoy
talking to Alex and Sally. They were both very talkative, and Jay soon was
to. Sally saw the old Jay, the one she knew from the station rear her head,
only more present and a lot more real, she couldn't think of an other way
to put it. Soon though Sally had to go since she had a long shift the next
day. She thanked Jay again, and made her promise to teach her that recipe.



Once Sally was gone Alex and Jay sat on the couch and just like the evening
before Jay cuddled into Alex, and Alex had her arms around Jay. They sat
like that without saying anything, they didn't have. It was just exactly
what the other needed.

'That was nice.' Jay said some time later.

'Yip it was, Sally likes you, you know.' Alex responded, while stroking
Jay's hair. 'She thinks you are the best thing that happened to me in a
long time, and I totally agree.'

'I think you both have that the wrong way around.'

Again neither said anything for a while, then Alex took a chance and took
Jay's chin in her hand and brought her face to hers. They kissed slowly but
again with fire. They turned to each other and started to really explore
each others mouths. Their tongues searching and finding each others hidden
treasures. Nibbling each others lips. Alex traced Jay's lips with her
tongue and got a moan in response. Jay bit Alex's lower lip and felt Alex's
body respond to it. Finally after who knows how long they broke apart and
Alex put her forehead against Jay's, just staring at her eyes.

'You are just so beautiful! I could drown in those eyes.' Alex whispered
into Jay's ear. She could feel the blush creep over Jay's face. 'And you
are just a hell of a kisser, you could make me do anything if you promised
me a kiss in return.' She it lightly bit Jay's ear and felt her shiver.

'You make me feel beautiful, and no has ever done that.' Jay settled her
head in the crook of Alex's neck. 'And kissing you feels like I've been
doing it my whole life, forever.'

'Mhh, I know what you mean.' Alex again put her arms around Jay and could
feel Jay's breath tickle her neck. 'I hate to say it, but I have to go.'

'I know.' Jay sighed as they slowly got up.

'Will you have lunch with me tomorrow? And I'm taking you out.' Jay
hesitated then nodded. 'Great, I'll call you then!

They were now standing by the door and Jay stood on her toes to reach
Alex. They kissed, and then Alex slipped out the door with a wink.

Much later Jay was lying awake in her bed, she couldn't believe that she
was missing Alex as much as she was. And she just couldn't fall
asleep. Then her phone rang. She was seriously hoping it wasn't the station
telling her she had an extra shift.

'Jooste.'

'I couldn't sleep.'

'Alex? What time is it?'

'It's really late. Will you talk to me until I fall asleep?'

'Ok, what do you want to talk about?'

'Tell me why you wanted to become a cop? Tell me your secrets, ones no one
knows. Tell me what you like and dislike. Just tell me everything.'

There was a couple of seconds of silence as Jay thought about it, then she
started talking, almost in whisper.

'I was probably about four years old when I realized that I wanted to be a
cop. We, my family, were visiting relatives in Germany. We went to one of
those huge parks, and of course, there was a lake. I loved it there and
loved feeding the swans. We were there apparently for three hours straight,
then my parents wanted to leave, they were getting a bit irritated. See I
didn't want to go, no I refused to go. My father eventually convinced my
mother that if they started walking away I would follow. So of they went,
but I had other plans. When after a few minutes they turned around to see
where I was, I had disappeared. They then immediately called the
police. There had been some sort of event in the park earlier, so there
were still some officers in the park. Two of them found me in a wooded area
on the other side of the lake, I was playing hide and go seek with my
unsuspecting parents. When I saw them I was so impressed, they were on
horseback. They smiled at me and told me my parents were waiting. They then
picked me up onto one of the horses, and I got to ride back to my parents
on a police horse. My parents looked so happy when they saw me that I just
knew that is what I wanted to do when I grew up... make people happy. I
know that is a very lame story but it really is true. It stuck with me
threw the years, and yes even now, I do it because I like helping people.'

'That's sweet...mhh.' Alex sounded like she was already nearly asleep, so
Jay jut went on.

'Now as to my likes... I like reading, but that you already know. I also
love making music, and play the violin and the piano, mind you I'm no
maestro but I hold my own. I played in an orchestra for nearly eight years,
those were some of my best times. That was also a time me and my mother got
along, she loved the fact that I was the first violin. Other likes, I guess
I have a few, it's actually hard to make a list.'

Jay stopped and listened, and as she had thought, Alex was gone. She was
mumbling. Jay smiled to herself, she found this trait very cute.

'Alex... Alex I'm going to hang up now, ok?' It was a rhetorical question,
just to make sure Alex was really asleep. Jay didn't expect an answer. 'See
you tomorrow.'

'Love you Jay.' Alex mumbled in her sleep, Jay's heart stopped beating, she
didn't know what to do. Then Alex was mumbling nonsense and she hung up.

She said it. I was not imagining it, was I? No she really said it, but come
on she was asleep. Then again isn't that a time when your subconscious
comes to the surface? Jay what are you going on about! I mean do I want
this?... Yes, I do, more than I could have imagined. But, it's just not
possible that someone like her would love me, but she said it.

Jay's mind kept going over what had happened between her and Alex since
they had met. She was confused, didn't know what to do. Alex was her dream
impersonated, then why was she so worried? She could not fall asleep for
the longest time. When the light started to filter into her room did sheer
exhaustion claim Jay into the land of nod, still confused and unsure of
herself. It was a very uneasy sleep.



After Alex had tried calling Jay three times the next morning, and Jay
didn't pick Alex decided to go over there. She had forgotten to give Jay
her key back. So she walked over there, she noticed Jay's curtains were
still drawn. She was probably still asleep, this calmed Alex a bit. She had
worked up a nice head of worry. Now Alex was looking forward to seeing Jay
sleep, she looked to cute for words when she slept. That thought left her
mind as soon as she saw Jay on the bed. The sheets were crumpled and
everywhere except on Jay. Jay herself was twisted into a tight ball, sweat
drenched and whimpering. Alex's heart nearly dropped out of her mouth. She
had visions of Jay in hospital, sick and dying twisting and turning. She
did the only thing that popped into her head. Reilly Conly picked up the
phone on the second ring, her daughter never called this early in the day
unless it was an emergency.

'Alex sweetie what's wrong?' Reilly immediately asked, she could hear Alex
hyperventilating on the other side.

'She's dying, god she's dying! Mom what do I do?' Alex managed it in a
whisper, leaving Reilly very confused.

'Alex what's going on?'

'She's all sweaty and twisted and whimpering. No she can't do this, I love
her to much! Mom?' Alex was pleading now. Reilly was stunned to say the
least, still confused but stunned. Her daughter had never said that before.

'Alex, listen to me!' Reilly used the voice she had often used on Alex and
Shane when she wanted their attention. 'Calm down! Then tell me exactly
what's going on.' Reilly heard her daughter take a few deep breaths to calm
down.

'I came to check on Jay when she didn't answer her phone, I found her
twisted into a ball on her bed, sweat drenched and whimpering. The rest of
the bed is a mess. I'm scared.' Alex answered unsteadily.

'Mhh, sweetie gently feel if her forehead is hot.' Reilly instructed Alex.

'No she feels normal.' Alex said once she had her hand on Jay's
forehead. 'She's just sweaty.'

'Then baby, she's having a bad dream, it's nothing to worry about.' She
heard a sigh of relief on the other side. 'You worked yourself up over
nothing, just wake her up, or let her ride it out. She'll be fine once
she's awake.'

'I'm sorry mom.'

'Don't be, you were worried. I'm glad you called me. She must be very
special?' It was a simple question but also exactly the right one.

'She truly is, I... love her more every second I spend with her. And god I
miss her terribly when we aren't together, even in my sleep! Mom does love
always hit you like a freight train? Because that is what this feels like.'

'No, it's not always like that, but the best in my opinion is. Does she
know?' Reilly had not missed the dreamy quality in her daughters voice, so
love had finally found Alex.

'I haven't told her yet, no. She needs this to go slow, so I will. I would
do anything for her. Does that sound weird?'

'No it doesn't sweetie, but don't wait to long to tell her. I'm so happy
for you, and I would love to meet her.' Reilly was really curious to who
the woman was that captured her daughters heart. 'When she is ready.'

'I want you to meet her.' Alex thought it over a while. 'You know I could
ask her if she wanted to spend a weekend with me in Ireland. If you
wouldn't mind.'

'I never mind you dropping by you know that. But will she be al right with
that?' This was sure a strange way of taking it slowly.

'It will mean few people, nice and easy. She's very shy and doesn't like to
have to be in the middle of it, when she is the main attraction. Dad and
Shane are already pushing me to introduce her to them, but you know how
they are. I think that maybe meeting you first will ease her mind.'

'Ah yes, they would be a bit much for her, I can imagine they want her to
be introduced to the whole clan on her first visit with them. Still isn't
it still moving fast, introducing her to me?'

'In that aspect I guess it is, but I really think it is in another the more
intimate part that scares her. I think that her last relationship was not a
very healthy one.' Alex answered with effort, not to say to much or get
give to much detail. She and her mother had always had a very open
relationship, but that didn't mean she wanted every little detail in the
open.

'Oh, I see. As I said you two are welcome here any time, just call me
before you storm the house.'

'Than you mom... for everything. I love you.' Alex said with a kiss at the
end. Making Reilly chuckle.

'She is a very lucky woman, and I love you to sweetie. Now go I have better
things to do.' Reilly jokingly replied then hung up.



Alex at first wanted to wake Jay up, but decided to let her sleep
instead. She went to Jay's study got something to read and then got in bed
next to Jay. Jay must have sensed Alex there and uncurled herself and
latched onto Alex, her head resting on Alex's stomach. Alex while reading
played with Jay's hair, twirling it in her fingers.

Jay had been having a terrible nightmare, feeling scared out of her
wits. She had this dream often, although she never could recall what
exactly it was about. But she knew it was always the same. She was getting
to the part where she usually woke up screaming, but a sudden calm came
over her and instead of waking up she slipped into a deep sleep. It was
about four o'clock when Jay finally woke up. She opened her eyes and was
looking at Alex, she didn't know where she had come from but was very happy
she was there. Alex hadn't noticed her opening her eyes so Jay could stare
at her for a moment,Alex seemed to be caught up in the book she was
reading. Jay tried to move without disturbing her.

'Well hello there beautiful.' Alex leaned down and took Jay's lips for a
soft kiss. 'You feel better now?'

'Uhm yes, I guess. Have you been here long?' Jay asked.

'A while. When I got here you were apparently having a nightmare, and I
didn't want to leave you alone, so I got a book to read and stayed here. I
hope that is ok?' Alex said and Jay could see the concern in Alex's eyes,
and she melted.

'Thank you.' Jay stated her heart nearly bursting with something she
couldn't explain.

'What ever for Jay?'

'For being so sweet, and staying with me because I had a nightmare.' She
paused a second and went on. 'You calmed me down. I didn't know it then but
you calmed me down.'

'There was nowhere I would rather have been then here with you.' Alex
firmly stated and hugged Jay closer, then let go and got up.

'Where are you going?'

'I'm going to make you a cup of coffee.'

'You really don't have.'

'I know, but I want to, unfortunately I have to go in a couple of
minutes. There is something I want to ask you though.'

'I slept that long?' Jay gasped as she realised that Alex must have been
there for hours.'

'Yea, I think you needed it. How do you like your coffee?' Alex replied
from the kitchen

'Take one of the big glasses and dump an espresso in it, four sugars and
fill it up with cold milk.' Jay heard her coffee machine and some things
being moved about. Then In came Alex with a tray with her coffee and one
for Alex as well.

'Here we go. Interesting, you have a very peculiar taste. Not a hot latte
and not a cold ice coffee. I'm trying it, as you can see, who knows I might
like it.' Jay took the glass and sipped, then sighed.

'Perfect,thanks.' They were silent for a while as they both sipped. 'You
wanted to ask me something?'

'Oh right, I keep forgetting myself when I'm around you. I wanted to know
if you wanted to come with me to Ireland for a weekend?' Alex saw the doubt
cross Jay's face, she would have to be clever to get her to agree.

'To your mother's place?'

'Yes, she invited me. Look I really want to go, otherwise I'll be stuck
with my dads family and friends, and they would be bugging me about you the
whole time! This way we both get away.' Now it turned to suspicion and
doubt.

'You have a weekend in mind don't you?'

Wwweeeellll, yes. See in two and a half weeks my dad invited the whole clan
for a weekend of family fun. Which they are trying to force me to bring
you. Shane has been put to the task of getting you there because I said
no.' Now Jay was a bit startled. 'I told you my family was over involved.'

'I guess you weren't joking, and Shane?' Jay didn't need to say anything
more, Alex knew what she was asking.

'He will hunt you down and charm you into whatever he wants from you, he
doesn't take no.'

'I'm not ready to meet your whole family!' Jay was now becoming more
nervous.

'I know, that's why I want to take you away. My mom is really nice and not
as inquisitive as the rest of the family. You'll like her i promise!' Jay
seemed to be thinking about it.

'She won't mind if you bring me?'

'No, I think she will probably love you on first site.' Alex made sure that
Jay could see she was serious.

'Ok, but only if we can manage to get the time of together.' Jay smiled
still unsure of herself and the idea.

Alex left not long after that. She was very happy with her efforts, at
least this way she spared Jay the whole family, and her mom really was fun
to be around. She hoped she had not promised Jay to much.

Man it was another long day, as a new be you always had to do all the
shit. But now matter this is my dream job, so just bite your tongue and do

and me are revving to get you all hot and bothered.' Donn leered at Alex.

'Look I've told you time and again. I'm not interested!'

'Woman always say no when they mean yes, just stop playing games and let me
fuck you already.' Donn nearly snarled at her.

'Shit are you stupid or something, I've told you I'm gay! Like into
woman!'Alex tried to not shout.

'That's just because you haven't had a real banging sweetie! Stop being
such a bitch and lets go!' Donn now grabbed Alex and tried to pull her with
him

The woman watching moved without thinking, and before she knew what was
happening she was at Alex's side.

'Babe sorry I'm late! You ready to go?' She leaned in and kissed Alex hard
and long. 'Donn get your hands of her! She's taken!' Alex was too stunned
to say anything or move.

'By whom? You Jooste? Don't make me laugh!' Donn said but let Alex go none
the less he wasn't stupid.

'Why yes by me and now we have somewhere to be. Hope you have a great one
Donn! Now we have to go hon.' Jooste led Alex away and out to the parking
lot.

Alex was still dazed, she had had many run ins with Donn before, but this
time was different. She was scarred of the guy. But then here comes Jay
Jooste and saves the day.

'Are you ok Alex? You look a bit sick.' Jay asked trying her best to
comfort without invading personal space.

'Yes!... Thank you Jay? It's Jay right?' She smiled weakly.

'Yea, Jay it is. Look you really ok?'

'I'm fine the creep just got me at a bad time, I wasn't prepared for him. I
owe you big time, he is becoming to the point where I am beginning to feel
threatened. You are a life saver.' Alex was now smiling at Jay and Jay all
but melted when she looked into her green eyes.

'Well take me to a movie and dinner tonight and we are even! What do you
say, I'm of?' Jay all but blurted without a thought.

Alex was again stunned, she was gay and everyone knew that but Jay? They
had flirted a bit, but always in fun, or was it serious. Well if it was
serious she wasn't going to complain, Jay was not hard on the eyes, maybe a
bit on the short side.

'I think I can manage that, uhm... should I pick you up or do we meet at
the movies?'

'Why don't you pick me up, I don't have a car and the bike is really not
nice late at night.' Jay answered and went on to give her address and
number.

'Hehehe, do you really live there?' Alex laughed

'Yes, for about three years now. Why do you ask?'

'Oh nothing, really nothing. Do you need a ride home?'

'No my bike is over there.' Jay pointed to a modified mountain bike.

'You mean you are on a bike bike?'

'Yes, it even has pedals. Hey don't sound so surprised. I love biking, and
that there is my baby!' Jay kidded.

Alex noticed the twinkle in the steel blue eyes, she was stunned at her
reaction towards those eyes. She had turned to putty. Maybe there is really
something there.

'I'm not putting you down, I'm just surprised.'

'Why it's a great way to navigate in the city. I'm faster than you
probably.'

'Mhhh, that is a good point, but I tell you what we'll test it
sometime. But now I need to get home and take a shower so I will be on
time.' Alex smiled at Jay and then they said their goodbyes. Alex drove of
leaving Jay staring after her.

God I asked her to take me to the movies and dinner? I am an utter idiot!
She was just man handled by Donn and I go and do the same! Way to go Jay!
Shit I have to fix this... and I know just how to do that. I t will knock
her socks of. But I have to move to get it done on time, a challenge I
love. This is going to be a lot of fun.



How funny that this should happen. I mean I've lived here for nearly five
years, and I never noticed her? But that can happen I guess. But what fun,
we are nearly neighbours. And god she is cute and seems really nice. Now if
I hurry I'll even be on time.

As the doorbell rang Jay was just finishing the final preparations for her
'I'm sorry dinner.' she was very pleased, maybe she could get a real date
with Alex this way, but probably not. Nobody liked her that way. She shook
the thought and went to the door.

'Hi there you ready to go?'

'No. Look I owe you an apology. What I did before at the station was
really, well it was just not right. So I was hopping you would let me make
it up to you.'

'What are you talking about Jay?' Alex looked confused, Jay had been
nothing but nice at the station.

'I practically forced myself on you, just like Donn.'

'Now wait a second! You did nothing of the sort! You helped me out, and I'm
really great full you did!' Alex could not believe this, could Jay really
believe she was the same as Donn?

'No I should not have forced myself...'

'Stop right there! You didn't force me to do anything I didn't want! Do you
get that?'

'I... I guess, I still just feel bad.'

'Jay don't, you were nothing but nice! Now lets go or we will really be
late!'

'Uhm... look I know you said I did nothing wrong... but I... well I wanted
to apologize by cooking you dinner, you know home made... and it is already
done...and I thought that maybe...'Jay stammered, this was not going the
way she had thought it would go and in the end just let it go.

Alex looked at her she could see that Jay was flustered and very
embarrassed, she was blushing from head to toe. No one had ever cooked Alex
anything and she found it really thoughtful and sweet.

'You really didn't have to that, but thank you. Maybe we could catch the
late show?'Alex suggested.

'Really? I mean only if you want to.' Jay was beaming and Alex noticed that
this must mean a lot to Jay.

'Sure, I mean you went to the trouble to cook and all. I mean that is a
total pain in the ass!'

'Not really, I love to cook. It relaxes me. It's a family quirk I guess,
shit where are my manners come in.'The both finally stepped into Jay's
apartment.

'You are kidding about the cooking, right? Wow my god what smells so good?'
Alex's senses were battered by aromas and smells mingling as one.

'You'll have to wait and see. Why don't you take a seat on the balcony and
I'll be right back.'Jay left Alex with a grin on her face the size of
Africa.

Once Jay was gone Alex took her first real look around the apartment. What
she saw blew her away. Jay had obviously gone to a hell of a lot of
trouble. The apartment was freshly cleaned, there were fresh flowers, which
if she was a judge weren't from a store, there were candles lit, and the
balcony was set to perfection. There was even a menu on the table and a
pitcher of water with a slice of lemon in it. Alex's legs went weak, she
had to sit down, this was just... she was speechless. This had to have
taken Jay the whole afternoon to do.

'Oh Alex I forgot to ask what you would like to drink, I've got
everything. Red, white? Dry, sweet? Or I could make you a cocktail?'Alex
was staring at her with something that looked to Jay like confusion.

'This is to much! Jay why would you...'

'I told you I like to cook, and then I like to go the whole nine yards, and
I felt so guilty about earlier. Uhm, I guess it's my way of saying I'm
sorry and I would like to get to know you.'Jay was shifting from one foot
to the other again very unsure of herself. Alex picked it up, she seemed to
be totally in tune with Jay.

'You know a simple 'do you want to get a drink' would have gotten you there
a lot easier, but this? Jay thank you, this is incredible!' Alex took Jay's
hand in hers on purpose, she had the feeling that Jay was really a very shy
person and she didn't want to scare her away.

'Thank you. Uhm so what do you want to drink?'

'Actually I don't drink.'

'Not at all?'Jay was shocked, everyone she knew drank, and drank plenty.

'Not at all, but you know water will be fine!'Alex tried to smooth it over.

'Nope, that won't do! Lucky for you I always have some home made syrup
around. Now let me check what I have in here.' Jay moved to a wine stand
and then rattled of a list. 'Ok I've got; Elderflower, Mint, Lemon, Orange,
Cherry, Lemon grass and Casis and last but not least Peach and Mint. So
there anything you like?'

'Did you say home made?'

'Yea, it tastes better if you make it yourself. So what will it be?'

'Uhm, Mint with a splash of lemon juice?'

'Coming right up.'

Alex was fascinated, Jay seemed to have a side that no one would believe of
her. Alex knew from asking around a bit, that Jay didn't have many
friends. None from the police force. She was a bit of a mystery. One full
of surprises. She now looked around and found what had to be photo's of her
family, some with her and some without. She was from a big family.

'My crazy ass family, not all of them as nice as they look.' Jay bitterly
said when she saw Alex looking at them when she came back from the
kitchen.'Yea, that was before, lets not spoil the mood. Here your drink and
the appetizers. So lets sit down and enjoy.'

'Wow, what are al these?'

'We have, melon with prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella salad and shrimps in
an olive oil and garlic sauce.'

'And you made this all? That is amazing!'

Jay was beaming with happiness, and she could for the first time since Alex
arrived take a good look at her. She looked stunning. She wore a nice pair
of jeans and a shirt that hugged all the right curves, but what got her
were the eyes. Being so much shorter than Alex this was the first time she
really got to look at them. They were moss green, and like nothing Jay had
ever seen before. And at the moment they were obviously happy.

'God Jay, you should have become a chef! That was amazing!' Alex noticed
Jay blush and again found it just to sweet for words.

'Thanks, but there is still the main course! So I'll go and get that.'
Before Jay could jump away Alex grabbed her hand, she noticed that Jay was
nervous, had been since opening the door.

'Come on sit down. Lets talk some first, I'm way to stuffed to eat right
away.'

'Uhm... sure.'

'Tell me about yourself Jay?'

'Oh there is really not that much to tell.'

'That I just don't believe.'


'Then what do you want to know?'

'Mhh, I've been wondering about your family, but you don't have to tell me
if you don't want to.'

Jay seemed to consider this for some time, then she made up her mind. She
really wanted Alex as a friend, no she wanted her for more, but for now
friend would do. So she would be honest.

'My name is Johanna Petronella Susanna Jooste, I grew up in South Africa. I
have two brothers, Karl and Sam and a sister Jane. My parents names are
Johan and Ruth. I was never what my parents expected in a child and when I
told them one of two desires I got to really see their true colours.'

Alex heard the bitterness there, but was again fascinated and wanted to
know more. Jay seemed to be thinking of how to proceed, so Alex just sat
and waited.

'You see I've wanted to become a op for as long as I can remember. When I
old them that was what I was going to do, my mom nearly had a heat
attack. My dad said nothing, he never does. So I fled here, where they have
no say. My brothers are here as well and that helps some. Karl actually
ignores me, but Sam he is my live saver! If not for him and Jane, I would
not have any friends or people in my life.'

Jay was looking at the floor, and seemed to be waiting for something. Alex
realized it was for her to leave. She was taken aback, how could someone
that seemed so funny and quirky be so lonely?

'If you are waiting for me to leave... dream on! I think you are
incredible! I would also love to tell your parents they are real losers.'

Jay looked up and directly at Alex, Alex was stunned by the sudden urge she
had to kiss Jay, she was just perfect.

'I'll give you their number! Send them my best?'Jay laughed.

'Hehehe, now you said there were two things, but you only told them one?
Again really none of my business, but I am curious.'

'Well I'm gay. Sam and Jane know but not Karl or my parents. I just don't
have the guts to face them.'

Alex was like fixed to her chair. Jay was really gay? Wow, this was
something.

'Alex I think that was enough of me though, what about you?'

'Sure. Let me see... my name is Alexandra Conly. My parents are Angus and
Reily Conly. I have one irritating brother Shane. I grew up in Ireland
until I was about 15 then we moved here. My mom is still in Ireland,
wealthy as sin. Loves me and Shane to death. My dad is a retired cop so me
and Shane sort of followed him into the family business.'

'Your dads retired?'

'Yes, he got shot on the job, he has been in a wheelchair ever since.'

'I'm so sorry.'

'Don't be, he has never been happier, and Susan his wife is the sweetest
person you could imagine. They are expecting a baby any day now.'

Jay was silent for a while as was Alex, but it was comfortable. They were
at ease in each others company.

'I think I like your family more than mine.'

'You have not met them then! Believe me they are way to involved.'

'But you would not have it any other way.'

'How is it that you seem to know me so well?'

'Alex... I guess I just feel connected. But now it's time for the main
course.'

Alex knew when someone was trying to hide something from her, and Jay was
really trying. She would just have to wait it out then when the right time
came, push. Alex also realized she wanted way more from Jay then just
friendship. She had never fallen so fast for someone, but she realized with
a start that she had for Jay. The quirky and beautiful Jay.

'Here we are, I hope you like?'

'Ok chef what is this, it smells heavenly!'

'Ok we have chicken breasts filled with Dried tomato and goats cheese
glazed with honey and lemon grass. That is served on a rice and cashew bed
with fresh grilled veggies.' Jay proudly explained.

Alex tried some and for the next half hour didn't say a word, it was that
good. Jay watched with fascination, she loved cooking for people and see
their reaction to the food. When Alex had finished her blurred vision
suddenly focussed back on Jay.

'This was just... I don't even know what that was! You are a find Jay, you
truly are.'

'I'm glad I could be of service. I love cooking, it makes me feel
worthwhile.'

'What do you mean?' Alex got the distinct feeling that this was important,
but Jay seemed to avoid her eyes. Alex then gently turned her face towards
her. 'Jay what do you mean?'

'You know!'

'No, I don't. Tell me.'

'I mean, it's the one thing I am really good at. I know I'm not beautiful
and I know I'm not...'

'Jay who told you that?'

'Uhm...'

'Who ever it was they were utter liars! You are stunning!'

'You really don't have to say that, look I know I am fun and...'

'And brave and a skilled cook, bright, inventive and absolutely breath
taking! Don't you believe otherwise!'

Jay looked away again, she didn't know where to look. She had never heard
those things said about her. She knew she was a fun person to hang out with
but also that she wasn't beautiful, but Alex seemed to think she was.

'How can you say that about me? Look at you! You are so elegant, stylish
confident and just about everyone who meets you thinks you are a
stunner. How can someone like you look at me and say I am beautiful?'

'Do you want to know what I see when I look at you?' Jay nodded and looked
at the floor. 'I see a fascinating woman. One that is very shy yet very
social. One that is caring about people she doesn't even know. One that
when she looks at me with those eyes... my heart melts!'

'...'

'Jay may I kiss you?' Still speechless Jay only nodded.

Alex got on her knees in front of Jay, she wanted Jay to look her in the
eye when she kissed her. She took her chin into her hand and very gently
brought it up to meet her. She then slowly leaned in and their lips met. It
was magic! It was soft and inviting. Their tongues danced a sensual dance
as though they had been doing this for an eternity. When Alex finally did
pull away she rested her forehead against Jay's. Both were breathing
heavily, and couldn't speak.

'You are just perfect Jay! I've never felt anything like that before. Hey
Jay, don't cry! That was a compliment.'

'Thank you.' Jay whispered.

'It was at all a pleasure, now may I do that again?'

Jay laughed at that, Alex had lightened the mood as she had meant to. She
knew with Jay she would have to be very careful. She didn't want to hurt
her, if she did she would never forgive herself. She joked around some more
and made Jay laugh more, a sound she loved from the very first time she
heard it. She wanted to be the reason for the sound. She was very surprised
at how intense her feelings for Jay were, but then not really.

'SHIT! Dessert, I should have asked if you would like any.' Alex could not
help but chuckle.

'Jay believe me what I got was much better. Relax will you?'

Alex could see Jay relax again, but she was obviously thinking about
something. She looked very cute when she was thinking, Alex mused. But Alex
found her cute no matter what she did.

'Alex?'

'Yes?'

'Donn won't keep quiet about the incident today. Everyone will think we are
together.'

'I guess so, does that bother you?'

'Well, I guess what I want to know is... are we?'

'Well Jay Jooste are you asking me to go steady with you?'

Jay turned ten shades of red. She didn't know what to answer to that. Alex
so wanted to kiss her right then but resisted the urge.

'I... uhm...I...'

'Hehehe, Jay calm down, I'm only teasing!'

'I'll kick your butt!'

'Oh that sounds kinky!' Again Jay blushed. 'No seriously, it doesn't bother
me at all. I mean after tonight I was hoping we could maybe make it
official. But only if it doesn't bother you!'

'I guess my plan worked after all.'

'Huh?'

'I was hopping, more wishing that if I could cook for you, then maybe we
could have a real date some time. I never thought that it would really
happen.'

'Well it is, I mean I see this as a date, I mean we already made out!' Alex
winked at Jay. Jay became subdued. 'Oh oh what did I say?'

'I... Alex I want this, I really do...'

'But?'

'But I need this to go slow. I've only had one other relationship, and that
ended badly. I'm just...'

'I understand and I would never push you to do anything. Never!'

Jay then noticed that the had somehow moved inside and were sitting on the
couch and it felt the most natural thing in the world for Jay just to
cuddle into Alex, and she did. Alex wrapped her arms around her and they
sat like that for the longest time.

'Mmhh, Alex tell me about you?'

'Sure what you want to know?'

'Everything and anything!'

'Oh, no pressure then.' Alex giggled 'but you really have to help a bit?'

'Ok let me see... I would love to know... who is your
favourite... Muppet?'Jay struggled to keep a straight face.

'...'

Jay could hold it no more and just laughed until her sides hurt. She
noticed that Alex was doing the same. It felt so good, to sit in the arms
of someone you liked and laugh.

'You little tease! But it was good! Brilliant! Muppet, I have to remember
that one.'

'Sorry it was just to good to pass up on. I only tease out of fun.'

'No that's good, because I love to tease, so be warned!'

Jay nodded and relaxed back into Alex. Then she noticed the time.

'Shit, Alex look at the time! You are on duty tomorrow morning right?'

'Yes, and shit is right. Hell if I don't get to bed soon I'll fall asleep
on the job tomorrow. I better go.' Alex said regretfully.

'No you don't! It's way to late, it will take ages to get home. You are
spending the night!'

'But Jay...'

'No buts! I'll lend you a shirt and some boxershorts to sleep in. You take
the bed I'll take the couch.'

'Nope I'm definitely taking the couch!'

'Don't be silly, you need sleep, no one can sleep on the couch!'

'Then neither will you. I won't let you!'

'Fine then! We'll both take the bed!' Jay said this, the thought it would
work the bed was big enough.

'Ok, that sounds better.'

Jay gave Alex her things and let her use the bathroom. When she was done
she got directly in bed and fell asleep as soon as her head hit the
pillow. When Jay came out of the bathroom Alex was fast asleep but mumbling
and talking very animatedly. She got in and was there only a few seconds
when Alex snaked her arms around her waist and pulled her into her. So Jay
fell asleep with Alex spooning her and talking a mile a minute. Jay had
never felt safer or more content.



Where the hell am I... right Jay's! Hell I'm still in bed? That is a first!
Usually I get kicked out because I talk so much and can't lie still or I
roll out myself. Oh shit I'm on top of Jay! Huh still asleep, shit she has
to have the sleep of the dead! But she sure looks cute when she sleeps. She
even set an alarm for me, she is something. There that's of, she really
doesn't have to wake up early on her day of. I'm still early I'll just
enjoy the view for a while and then get a going.

Alex stared at Jay a while,wondering how one person could look so perfect,
then got up to find a piece of paper to write a message for her. She found
her way to the room which obviously was Jay's study. Books everywhere, so
this was her hobby then. She moved to the desk and rummaged for some paper
and a pen. She noticed about five books sitting on the desk, looking more
closely she noticed the author. Kelly Fields, Alex thought good taste, she
herself loved Fields books, but five? She only knew about four, must be a
knew one then. She finally found what she was looking for and headed back
to the bedroom. She wrote a note left in on the pillow beside Jay and was
of.

Half an hour later Alex walked into the lockers in the station. She was
just getting dressed when a Sally a friend of hers walked in. She looked a
bit curious, and Alex thought she knew exactly why.

'Hi Sally, what's up?'

'Hi there, and don't you think that I should be the one asking that
question?' Sally replied with smile, Alex was sure very happy today.

'What do you mean?' Alex had her back to Sally and had to smile to herself.

'Oh don't bullshit a bulshitter! I mean, is it true about you and our
little Jay Jooste?' Sally nearly shouted, she was never one that could
handle Alex's teasing.

'Now that depends.' Still not willing to give in.

'Oh sometimes Alex Conly I could just strangle you!'

'Ok, ok but first tell me what the rumour mill is saying and I'll tell you
if it's true.' Alex knew Sally's limit and they were there, plus she really
was curious.

'Fair enough I guess. Well it is saying that you and Jay are an item, and
have been for a while. It also states that the little Jay got one up an
Donn the ass.'

'Anything else?'

'Well, yea. It also said that you reported Donn his morning. Now dish or I
swear I will strangle you!' Sally giggled, not being able to stay mad at
anyone for long.

'Jay and me are an item, but it's brand spanking new. Jay really did stick
it to Donn and yes I reported him just before I came to change.' Alex
replied, with some information but not enough to give a real picture, and
she knew Sally would ask.

'You really reported him?'

'Yes, he went to far. He actually scarred me.'

'Well good for you. How new is this thing with you and Jay, I didn't even
know she was gay?'

'Well lets put it this way, yesterday we weren't an item, today we are.'
Alex smiled.

'What but she...'

'She saved me. See she saw Donn become more than insistent and she just
took it upon herself to save me. She walked up to us Kissed the daylight
out of me and asked if she was late. Told Donn to take his hands of me
because I was taken. He did but wasn't happy.'

'Jay did that?' Sally mused, Jay was always a lot of fun when she was
around but she was really no match for Donn, and yet seemed to have gotten
him anyway.

'Yea, and boy was it ever cute!'

'But now explain how you now suddenly are an item.' Sally also knew Alex
and knew she loved being in control of any conversation, and would make her
beg.

'Well when we got outside she ordered me to take her out to the movies and
dinner.' Alex wanted to go on but Sally interrupted.

'Sounds like Jay, full of wit and fun.'

'God don't believe that, she is the shiest and the most unsure person I
have met.'

'Huh, oh come on, Jay?'

'Yes, Jay. Let me ask you this. Do you know anyone that is really friends
with Jay?' Alex asked and Sally tried to think of one.

'Shit, I can't think of one, but she's always the life of the party, so to
speak!'

'Yea, but she never lets anything about herself drop.'

'So you two had dinner and a movie and are now an item?'

'Well not exactly. See Jay felt guilty for ordering me about the movie and
all, I mean she compared herself with Donn! So the sweet thing she is, she
cooked me dinner, and Sally the girl can cook! Wow, I'm telling you she is
a genius in the kitchen. After I set her straight that she was nothing like
Donn we ate, and we talked. It just felt so comfortable and right, and when
we kissed... I swear the earth moved.'

'Sounds to me like you have it bad for her!' Sally commented, and this time
was the one with a sly smile. 'Oh don't look so surprised! You forget I've
known you a very long time Alex, and I can read you like a book. Tell me
when did you get back last night, because you look like the cat got cream.'
Sally was very curious about this.

'Uhm... uh... you see it was so late when we finally looked at a watch that
Jay insisted that I sleep over.' Now Alex was the one feeling uncomfortable
and harassed.

'So you spent the night! And where, pray do tell, did you sleep?' As Alex
blushed Sally knew the answer to the question. 'You slept with her? Alex
you are just something else!'

'It's not like that! We didn't do anything, she just didn't have a spare
mattress, so we shared.' Alex was still red and was suddenly almost
whispering.

'And you actually slept together, and she didn't kick you out? Now that is
very hard to believe. You are terrible, you speak, scream, mumble and god
you just can't lie still! I mean you were the only one in the academy with
a own room!'

'I know, but no she didn't kick me out. I mean I woke up on top of her this
morning and she was sleeping like a log!'

'She must sleep like the dead!' Sally laughed.

'That is exactly what I thought.' Alex was now laughing to. 'Sally can I
ask you a favour though?'

'Yes, sure you can.' Curious again she turned to Alex.

'Try and get to know Jay better, she could really use some friends.'

'Try and stop me. I mean she got you hooked, and that is a feat. I would
have done that without you asking me.' Sally realized then and there that
Alex was in love with Jay, and wasn't that something.

'Thanks Sally, but I have to run! See you later!' Alex was gone before
Sally could respond.



When Jay woke up it was nearly lunch time, she was a bit confused. She had
set the alarm so she could wake Alex up. But god she had slept like she
hadn't slept for years, she was a notoriously bad sleeper, woke up easily
and couldn't handle any noise or light. Funny then that she could have
fallen asleep with the chatterbox next to her. She vaguely remembered Alex
rolling onto her and telling her about how amazing water bottles really
were. It sounded so very cute when she mumbled in her sleep, and Jay felt
just so safe and protected that even if a truck ran over her while Alex was
with her she wouldn't notice. When she finally got out of bed she noticed
the note on Alex's pillow.

Shit I'm in trouble! I'm already thinking it's her pillow! But wow last
night was amazing, how she could possibly like me, I still don't get. No
Jay enjoy the moment don't go and analyze. See she even wrote you a note!
But... NO. I'm just going to read it.

It's me, the crazy person that slept on you, if you didn't figure it out by
yourself! I was wondering if we could do something today? Only have morning
shift! Happy days! If I remember correctly you have a date with my
favourite Muppet. So if your game lets meet! Give me a call when shift

That is definitely a date! But I think I'll go and surprise her at the
station, cat's already way out of the bag. All thanks to Donn, I'm sure. So
